Northstar: A Feline-Friendly Moving Company
Laura McHolm, co-founder of NorthStar Moving, is more than just a smiling face. She's a mover who cares about pets--cats in particular. She knows that boxing up your life while getting ready for a move can be stressful for your feline friends. That's why she and getting ready for a move promote safety and security for your pets while moving, as pointed out in her interview with LovetoKnow.com. An addition to your moving tips: get one small room completely unpacked and cat-ready before bringing your cat home. Let them get accustomed to ONLY that room for a week or so before letting them have access to the rest of the new home. Although WE love new, large spaces, cats do not. It creates additional territorial stress that can trigger unwanted marking of territory. When it comes in the form of urine marking, you are behind the 8-ball before you know it and have a problem much better avoided. Call the new room the cat's "safe zone," and let them out under supervision until they feel comfortable. Also, don't let them out into other rooms until you've got the boxes put away. This will avoid several problems, including: cats hiding and finding "markings" on/in the boxes and contents weeks later. If you like your moving as luxurious and personalized as your cat care, check out Northstar.
