Break out your driedels, Hanukkah gelt, and get ready to make some yummy latkes and sufganoit! It’s that time of year again! For a lot of Los Angeles, winter is the season of red and green, but depending on where you go, it can be silver and blue too! This year Hanukkah is from Dec. 8 to Dec. 16 according to the Hebrew calendar.\u00a0Find out where you can celebrate\u00a0Hanukkah all around Los Angeles!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hanukkah is an eight day Jewish Holiday known as the Festival of Lights that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, purity over adulteration, and spirituality over materialism. \u00a0It is\u00a0celebrated\u00a0by lighting a unique\u00a0candelabrum, the nine branched Menorah, with one additional light lit on each night of the holiday.<\/p>\n

Menorah Lighting in Beverly Hills<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Join the\u00a0Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills\u00a0<\/a>as they light their menorah each night in the holiday nook of their lobby. It’ll be a warm time.<\/p>\n

Hanukkah at the Skirball Cultural Center<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Head to the Skirball Cultural Center on Dec 2 for their annual family festival\u00a0Americana Hanukkah – A Celebration of Freedom<\/a>. There will be performances, story telling, workshops, and more. During Hannukah, there will be different tours of galleries like\u00a0Lights of Hanukkah Family Tour<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Journeys of the Jewish People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Menorah Lighting Cermonies at Third Street Promenade<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Every year the Third Street Promenade celebrates Hanukkah by lighting a menorah on Dec 8, Dec 11, and Dec 12 at sundown.<\/p>\n

LA Farmer’s Market Hanukkah Celebration and Menorah Lighting<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Part of their annual holiday celebrations, head to the\u00a0LA Farmer’s Mark Hanukkah Celebration and Menorah Lighting<\/a>. This year the Menorah lighting is on Dec 9.<\/p>\n

Chanukah at CityWalk<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you’d rather stay in with family this Hanukkah, that’s great too. Just remember to go green. Consider using beeswax candles for your Menorah or maybe using\u00a0reusable\u00a0gift bags to give out Hanukkah gelt and gifts. Maybe even make your own driedels! And remember to reuse your old Hanukkah decorations from last year!<\/p>\n

Maybe try out some yummy vegetarian Hanukkah recipes!\u00a0Instead of traditionally frying your latkes, go a little healthier and make baked latkes<\/a>! Maybe switch things up a bit and make vegan\u00a0sweet potato latkes<\/a>. If you’ve got time maybe create your very own raw applesauce<\/a> rather than buying it from the store. And what’s Hanukkah without some homemade vegan doughnuts<\/a> 0r sufganoit.<\/p>\n
