I just love farm to table restaurants. It\u2019s this great green idea that\u2019s been gaining popularity. Farm to table essentially means that the food on your table came from a specific local farm. It\u2019s the direct relationship between a farm and a restaurant that lets you know what\u2019s on your table is not only organic but local! That\u2019s great for the environment and for your taste buds!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The best part about farm to table is that it\u2019s catching on! It&#8217;s easy to find a local restaurant near you that&#8217;s farm to table with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.realtimefarms.com\/eateries\" target=\"_blank\">Real Time Farms.<\/a>\u00a0It seems that restaurants in cities all over have starting implementing the farm to table method, but it&#8217;s not just restaurants! There are farm to table food trucks, farmer&#8217;s markets, and whole communities!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14725\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14725\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ammichaels\/8603922265\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14725 \" style=\"border: 10px solid black;\" title=\"farm to table restaurants\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/8603922265_f3765d42d2_o.jpg\" alt=\"farm to table restaurant menu\" width=\"490\" height=\"490\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14725\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dinner at Muddy Leek, a farm to table restaurant in Culver City (Photo by cheeseslave)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here&#8217;s just a few of my favorite farm to table places:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecuriouspalate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Curious Palate<\/a>\u00a0in Santa Monica, CA is a great one stop shop! It&#8217;s a market, kitchen, \u00a0and cafe! Stop by the cheese counter or take a great farm to table meal home!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gjelina.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gjelina<\/a> in Venice, CA is a very popular farm to table restaurant with their small plates and \u00a0pizzas.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.arvalentien.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">AR Valentien <\/a>in La Jolla, CA gets their produce from the local Santa Monica farmer&#8217;s market. The menu changes upon what&#8217;s available at the time, but it&#8217;s all delicious farm to table food!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/lazyoxcanteen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Lazy Ox Canteen<\/a> in Little Tokyo Los Angeles has delicious seasonal dishes. It&#8217;s casual dining with fantastic food.<\/li>\n<li>Farm to table is so popular that it\u2019s been taken to the streets. The Flatiron Truck (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Flatirontruck\" target=\"_blank\">@Flatirontruck<\/a>) travels around Los Angeles with a rotating menu of fresh local farmer\u2019s markets greens, sustainable seafood and fresh meats. They call it farm to street. What a moving idea!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Moving from farm to table can be easy when you\u2019ve got local Farmer\u2019s Markets everywhere. Just check out this list of places from Los Angeles Magazine on where to buy locally in Los Angeles organic food.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamag.com\/mag-features\/best-farmers-markets\/\" target=\"_blank\">Santa Monica<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamag.com\/mag-features\/best-farmers-markets\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hollywood<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamag.com\/mag-features\/best-farmers-markets\/\" target=\"_blank\">Other Local Markets<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just within the Los Angeles area, it&#8217;s incredible how many people are moving to farm to table.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14653\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14653\" style=\"width: 631px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/cbroders\/5968685987\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14653 \" title=\"Farmer's Market\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/5968685987_df61049033_b.jpg\" alt=\"Farmer's Market\" width=\"631\" height=\"420\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14653\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Head to farmer&#8217;s markets to support the farm to table movement! (Photo by: CBroders)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Did you know that there are communities you can participate in to get farm to table right to your dinner table? It&#8217;s even possible to start your own community with your neighbors. This is called a farm to table co-op. Now there are different ways of doing this.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14636\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14636\" style=\"width: 233px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/la-citta-vita\/6262183479\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14636 \" title=\"Farm to Table Produce\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/6262183479_77228a2113_z.jpg\" alt=\"Farm to Table Produce\" width=\"233\" height=\"311\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14636\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(photo by: la citta vita)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Buy from an organic wholesaler, and organize and distribute it out\u00a0among\u00a0you and your neighbors. This plan takes a lot of time to organize the food out and to\u00a0distribute\u00a0it.<\/li>\n<li>Create a local partnership. Sign up for community supported agriculture. A farmer offers a \u00a0number of &#8220;shares&#8221; to the public, and typically the shares consist of a box of vegetables. During farming season, consumers who bought a share will\u00a0receive\u00a0a box of fresh produce each week.<\/li>\n<li>Some people opt for sharing one lot between households and growing their own organic vegetables and splitting the food.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>There are plenty of ways to support this farm to table movement and keep things local and organic.
