Moving to a new area can be an exciting time for you and your family, but as summer is coming to an end, it also means moving to a new school. Transitioning into a new school<\/a> can be fun and nerve-racking all at the same time. Here are some things that you can do to help ease any new school anxiety:<\/p>\n\n

Be Positive About the Transition to a New School<\/h3>\n\n

It is perfectly normal to be worried about how this new school will be, but keep a happy, confident attitude. Being optimistic about your new school will make the transition much more pleasant. You don’t need to put on rose-colored glasses, but avoid any “this is the end-of-the-world” feelings.<\/p>\n\n\n

Be Involved at Your New School<\/h3>\n

Since you’ve just moved to a new area, you and your family probably do not know very many people. Making friends at a new school can be difficult, so get involved! Enroll in extracurricular activities, look for activities that interest you at your local YMCA,\u00a0 go to day camps, or find another way to become a part of your community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Be Prepared for the Transition to a New School<\/h3>\n

Being prepared for your new school will help you relax. Instead of stressing over if you have enough new school supplies<\/a>, when the bus times are, or if your new school will have good lunch<\/a>, focus on enjoying that first day. Change can be scary, but it’s also so exciting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving into a new school is a lot like moving into a new home. At first it may be difficult, but once you’re settled you can move right along and enjoy this new chapter of your life. The transition into a new school may be tough at first, but it will be more fun and enjoyable as time moves on.<\/p>\n
