Maui has a great agricultural heritage, wonderful school systems, and yes, lots of rainbows. There’s so much more to do than just surf. One of the most popular Maui misconceptions is that it\u2019s way too expensive to live on Maui. Not true! Maui is more affordable than you might think. Check out this great article<\/a> about affordable living on Maui! And while you\u2019re reading up on Maui, peruse this awesome informational page <\/a>about moves to Maui and Hawaii in general!<\/p>\n

Maui has so many exciting things happening every day! Lahaina<\/a>, easily one of the most tourist heavy areas of Maui, is a town with a main drag comprised of shops and restaurants. Here, you can visit the long running Maui exclusive Warren and Annabelle\u2019s Comedy and Magic Show<\/a> or enjoy dinner at the Lahaina Fish Co.<\/a>, one of Maui\u2019s finest oceanfront restaurants. Lahaina is also one of the main ports in Maui. Travelers can book passage between Maui and the small islands of Lanai or Molokini for a day trip of snorkeling and sightseeing.<\/p>\n

Locals quickly learn that Maui is home to lots of fun, free activities<\/a>. Hula shows, outdoor concerts and movies, art showings \u2013 and one of the most harrowing trips you can take on Maui, the Road to Hana<\/a>! It\u2019s a journey, buddy \u2013 it takes several hours to travel the entire road \u2013 but depending on the time of year, you\u2019ll see amazing Maui waterfalls and stock up on local Maui produce at the last food stand for miles! If you stick it out for the long haul, you\u2019ll be treated to one of the most amazing sites on Maui \u2013 the pools of \u2018ohe\u2019o\u2019, or, to you haoles (that\u2019s Maui-speak for mainlanders!), Seven Sacred Pools<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Worried moving to Maui means missing out on mainland treats? Never fear! Hit up Peggy Sue\u2019s<\/a>, a \u201850s style diner featuring amazing milkshakes made with local Maui ice cream. Lactose intolerant? Maui is home to one of the original Shave Ice businesses in the world, Ululani’s Shave Ice<\/a>! Just not into anything with added sugar? Take the Maui Gold Pineapple tour<\/a> and sample the finest pineapple Maui has to offer!<\/p>\n\n

If you don\u2019t mind the heat, you might consider moving to Kihei<\/a>, one of Maui\u2019s fastest growing communities, located on the south side of Maui and home to some amazing beaches. Maui locals flock to the big waves of Makena<\/a>, where body surfing is in high demand. The state park is one of the most popular on the island, and Maui locals have nicknamed the different sections Big Beach and Little Beach. On Maui, it\u2019s all about keeping it simple!<\/p>\n

Is a cooler climate more your thing? Then you\u2019ll love the North Shore of Maui! Visit the quaint little town of Paia<\/a> with its original wooden buildings, white sandy beaches, and groovy Maui culture! At the center of Maui, you\u2019ll find a lot of farming communities. Looking for some yummy greens? Head \u201cupcountry\u201d to Kula<\/a> where the best vegetation on Maui is grown year round! The best thing about living on Maui is you can never get too lost \u2013 if you keep going, you\u2019ll eventually end up back where you started!<\/p>\n
