You know what that means? EARTHQUAKE! An earthquake can be quite scary, since there are really no ways to predict when there will be one. However, there are many ways to prepare for an earthquake, and trust me, you&#8217;ll be happy you did.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>If you have <strong>pictures or mirrors<\/strong> hanging over the bed, moving them is a must. You don&#8217;t want them to fall on you during an earthquake. OUCH! \u00a0To ensure this from happening, use extra sturdy hanging tools. Also, <a title=\"latching cabinets\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Safety-1st-Spring-Release-Latches\/dp\/B001CWBKW2\/ref=sr_1_6?s=hi&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1395950609&amp;sr=1-6&amp;keywords=cabinet+latch\" target=\"_blank\">latching <\/a>up <strong>cabinets<\/strong> that could easily fly open during an earthquake is another good idea. \u00a0Before an earthquake, double check your <strong>electrical wiring. <\/strong>If you notice something isn&#8217;t quite right, get someone out to your home ASAP! This earthquake plan should include a hiding place where you will be safe even if things are falling and shaking. Practice DROP, COVER, and HOLD. Keep an extra pair of shoes and socks in the event there is glass on the floors after the earthquake. Have a <a title=\"first aid kit\" href=\"http:\/\/www.redcross.org\/prepare\/location\/home-family\/get-kit\/anatomy\" target=\"_blank\">first aid kit<\/a> ready with all the essentials, such as band aids, candles and <a title=\"Solar power flashlight\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Hybrid-Powered-Flashlight-Emergency-Battery\/dp\/B001NTT45Y\" target=\"_blank\">solar- powered flashlights<\/a>. Stock up on emergency food. We never know how long we will be without food or water during and after an earthquake, so it is crucial to have those things waiting in an easy-to-reach place. Usually, a 2 week supply is recommended. Sketch a floor plan of your home and walk through each room, discussing different evacuation details. There is also a very high chance that cell phone towers won&#8217;t work after an earthquake, so it is smart to keep a <a title=\"list of important contacts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cozi.com\/blog\/who-to-put-on-your-emergency-contact-list\" target=\"_blank\">list <\/a>of<strong> phone numbers<\/strong> close by such as police, fire, paramedics, \u00a0medical centers, insurance agents, electrical, gas, water companies, and telephone numbers of your neighbors.
