Summer is an awesome time to get picking–picking fruit, that is! Get moving<\/a>, and start rounding up all types of your favorite fruits because–wait for it–it\u2019s homemade jam making time! Now is the\u00a0perfect time to make that everlasting jam your family and friends just can\u2019t stop eating.<\/p>\n

Picking the Right Jam Fruit

Picking the right fruit<\/a> is the most important part of making jam. The right fruit is the only way\u00a0to a make a hearty jam. To do this, make sure to pick fruits that are in season<\/a>. Fresh fruit = yum! Now, you may be asking, “Where can I go\u00a0fruit picking?” Well, there are plenty of farms with fruit like the Pick-it-Yourself Orchard <\/a>or a strawberry field<\/a>. You can also pick your fruit from a farmers’ market. <\/a>I mean, hey, you could even pick fruit from your own fruit tree. It’s up to you!\u00a0Either way, gathering that special basket of fruit is just\u00a0the start to creating the perfect jam.<\/p>\n\n

Peanut Butter Jam Time<\/h2>\n

Who can resist a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Not me! In fact, it\u2019s just one of those things you never really grow out of. From strawberry<\/a> to mulberry jam<\/a>, the jam flavors to choose from are endless! Even though jam is pretty easy to make, there are still a few important decisions to consider when making your jam. First, decide if you will use pectin<\/a>. This is a part of a plant that gives the consistency of the jam just like the one in the supermarkets. Mmmm! Now that you’ve picked your favorite fruits for that delicious jam, it\u2019s time to pick a can to store it in. But, wait–don’t go jar crazy just yet. Instead, it is best to use a\u00a0“canning jar<\/a>.” This will help keep your jam fresh and tasty. Now that you know what cans to use, get moving, and wash those strawberries, raspberries and blueberries! It\u2019s time to start our jam party!<\/p>\n

Now that your\u00a0fruit is picked and washed,\u00a0it’s time to start making that favorite jam recipe of yours. The really great thing about making your own jam is being able to put whichever ingredients you like in it. If you want a super healthy jam<\/a> recipe, then no problem! If not, thats ok too! No matter what recipe you choose, let’s get our jam party started!<\/p>\n\n
