Ahhh,\u00a0Houston. This city is home to\u00a0good people, good humor and good eats. If you’re looking to make the Lone Star State your new home, then look no further than the largest (and therefore best) city in the state. Whether you’re into football or space exploration, Houston is the place to be.

Moving to Houston: A Foodie’s Delight<\/h2>\n

We’ve talked about Dallas<\/a> and Austin<\/a> in previous posts, but we haven’t talked about the grocery stores that have taken over the southern and central portions of the state.<\/p>\n

Central Market<\/a> is where foodies go to eat, drink and be merry. The grocery chain specializes in high-end cuisine and ingredients. Gourmet, hand-made cheeses? Check. Sashimi-grade fish, sliced and packaged right in front of you? Check. Live music and free samples of wine while you shop? Check. The chain goes out of their way to make shopping there an experience, and not a chore.<\/p>\n

In addition to grocery stores, Houston has restaurants that can send your tastebuds to paradise. The city happens to be the most diverse city in the country, and that means you get to taste the world while you’re there. Check out the high-end sushi bar, Uchi<\/a>. Sushi not you’re thing? Don’t forget, this is Texas! Some of the best BBQ in the country is found here. Check out Fainmous BBQ<\/a> or Mia’s<\/a> for the best stuff in town.<\/p>\n

Moving to Houston: Take Me Out to the Ball Game<\/h2>\n

…Or the football game. Or the PGA Tour. Houston has lots of things to do for any sports lover coming into the city. Cheer on the Houston Texans<\/a> as they play off against the Dallas Cowboys, or go to the Houston Open<\/a> to see your favorite golfers\u00a0in action.<\/p>\n

If you notice that the football fervor is a bit stronger here than in other states, just go with the flow. You’ll always find a good tailgate party, and the atmosphere at a home game is always amazing.<\/p>\n

Moving to Houston: Cultural Rollercoaster<\/h2>\n

Houston is the 4th largest city in the country, and sprawls out like Los Angeles<\/a>. This means tons of opportunities to explore and discover new places in the city, everyday. Houston has world-class zoos, operas and orchestras, and is home to NASA’s\u00a0Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center.<\/p>\n

The Houston Zoo<\/a> is a huge zoo filled to the brim with different animals. With the recently added gorilla enclosure, you can get to know all the most famous creatures in the jungle. The Houston Grand Opera<\/a>\u00a0has received a Tony Award, two Grammy Awards, and two Emmy Awards,\u00a0and is\u00a0the only opera company in the world to have won all three honors. You can also take a tour around the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center<\/a>, and see how we got to the moon first-hand.<\/p>\n
