Earth Day has come to say hello again! This is always one of my most favorite times of the year, because we get to discuss ways on how to make our planet a better place. Making the world a better place is one of my favorite subjects! I can talk for days about upcycling<\/a>, vegetarian options<\/a> and going green<\/a>. These are just some of the things you have to know about the greatest day of the year.<\/p>\n

The History of Earth Day<\/h2>\n

The very first official Earth Day<\/a> was April 22, 1970. It was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson<\/a> as a way to teach people about the environment and what we could do to improve our surroundings. Over the course of the next 50 years, Earth Day has grown to be celebrated by communities all over the world. There are some who have even expanded it to be an Earth Week, a week filled with festivities related varying environmental issues.<\/p>\n\n

There are lots of little things that you can start doing on Earth Day to improve your carbon footprint. Try eating less meat (or cutting it out entirely<\/a>) and buying local produce<\/a>. Recycle<\/a> all of the things you don\u2019t want anymore. It is especially important to recycle e-waste, which can contain many harmful chemicals and materials. By doing these things and making them a part of your life you can make Earth Day every day<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n

Are you gonna come to the Earth Day event? Make sure you carpool there! One of Earth Day\u2019s main initiatives is to plant 7.8 billion trees by 2020. Are you up to the challenge? Try getting a group of friends together to plant one or two trees each<\/a>. Every little sapling helps in the fight against carbon growth and climate change. You can also attend many of the conversations that are likely to be happening in your area. Check out what\u2019s happening near you here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
