Give a little &#038; Get a lot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new year is in full swing. What was your new year\u2019s resolution? Diet? Exercise? Living more green? As you get a jump start on those new year\u2019s resolutions, consider a new year\u2019s resolution that will help improve you from the inside out! Most of us have heard the saying, \u201cThere is more happiness in giving than in receiving,\u201d but how many have experienced it? Why not make a New Year\u2019s Resolution to give more this year. This new year resolve to get involved in a local<!--more--> charity, community project, or cause that you are passionate about. It\u2019s a New Year\u2019s resolution that promises happiness for you and is sure to bring happiness to others.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t know where to start? Once you\u2019ve made your New Year resolution to get involved, check out some of my favorite charities. Let me share with you why I love them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/community\/make-a-wish_la\/make_a_wish_foundation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-8969\" title=\"Make A Wish\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Make-A-Wish-150x130.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"130\" \/><strong>The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles<\/strong><\/a> grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, bringing joy and once in a lifetime experiences possible for children facing the impossible. NorthStar Moving has the great honor to work hand in hand with The Make-A-Wish Foundation and has resulted in a wish come true for us. Working with Make-A-Wish to grant their 7,000th wish we got to meet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/category\/claires-corner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claire<\/a> and making her wish come true became an inspiration for me, Snap Greene!! Find your inspiration by helping make a child\u2019s wish come true this new year.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/community\/habitat-for-humanity\/habitat-for-humanity.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-8970\" title=\"habitat for humanity\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/habitat-for-humanity-150x119.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"119\" \/><strong>Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles<\/strong><\/a> builds and renovates homes making liveable, sustainable and affordable housing available to our communities in need. We had the great opportunity to help move some of these families into their new homes. Watching the faces lit up as they walked into their new homes for the first time was what moving happiness home is all about. We also love <a href=\"http:\/\/www.habitat.org\/restores\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Habitat for Humanity\u2019s ReStore<\/a> project that allows our clients to donate unwanted furniture to be recycled and reupholstered to be used for a new family.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/clairesplacefoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-7931\" title=\"Claire's Place Foundation\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/flash-mob-claires-place-1-150x130.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"130\" \/><strong>Claire\u2019s Place Foundation<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong> I just love writing about Claire! She\u2019s my inspiration! Claire shares in our desire to help make this world a better place and Claire\u2019s Place Foundation is dedicated to helping people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families find the support they need. Through Flash Mobs, Fitness Fundraisers and dream trips, <a href=\"http:\/\/clairesplacefoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claire\u2019s Place Foundation<\/a> inspires everyone to live a positive life no matter what the obstacles you face.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/moveforhunger.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-8972\" title=\"Let's Send Hunger Packing\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Lets-Send-Hunger-Packing-150x130.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"130\" \/><strong>Move for Hunger<\/strong><\/a> &amp;<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lafoodbank.org\/virtual-food-drive\/donor-pledge.aspx?member=540229B5CA235BA7B28513FC7049E900\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LA Regional Food Bank<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 We had so much fun this holiday season with our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/blog\/2011\/holiday-food-drive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Holiday Food Drive \u201cLet\u2019s Send Hunger Packing<\/a>.\u201d The LA Regional Food Bank was so happy to receive donations and support. With over 1.7 million are at risk for hunger in LA county, 400,000 of those are children. Every little help counts, it only takes $5 to feed a child per day. You can make donations directly or find other ways to contribute year round.<\/li>\n<li>We have countless favorite charities. Others we encourage you to consider are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/community\/global_green\/global_green.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Green,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/community\/lu-parker\/helping-youth-and-shelter-dogs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LuParker Project<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstarmoving.com\/community\/free_clean_out_campaign\/free_clean_out_campaign.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clothes off our Back<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kiva.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kiva<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new year is in full swing.
