Christmas isn’t all about red and green, well maybe, green if you want to have an eco-friendly Christmas this year! The only thing that makes the holidays better is when you make sure to celebrate green. Here are some ways to have a great Eco-friendly Christmas.

Recycle your Christmas tree

To have an eco-friendly Christmas, if you are purchasing a live  Christmas tree make sure you recycle it when you’re done enjoying the holidays. There are many recycling centers that take in Christmas trees so be sure to check and see. If you want a different approach go for a cardboard Christmas tree!

Decorate with Nature

Try decorating your Christmas tree with natural items that you can find easily such as, nuts, dried fruit, branches or popcorn. It will give your Christmas tree a beautiful nature feel to it. What a great grand entrance! Also, decorate your home with natural décor. The possibilities are endless with how many natural items you can think of, try adding pine cones as a centerpiece or on the fireplace mantle, or poinsettias around the fireplace. Also try to be creative and pull out all your artsy supplies and start making wreaths, garlands and holiday ornaments.

Give Away eco-friendly Christmas cards

Do you normally mail out Christmas cards every year? How about sending e-cards instead? They are inexpensive and they save the trees!

Conserving Energy this Holiday Season

Temperatures get very low around this time of season so be sure to practice Eco-friendly measures and lower your energy consumption. Lower the heat in your home a few degrees at night, and when you are not home to lower energy use. Also try to use LED light for Christmas decorations for your home and keep lights on for just a short amount of time.

Re-use your old Christmas décor

Have old décor that you don’t use anymore but trying to find ways how to make it more resourceful? Pull out that old adorned wreath and use them as some ornaments to a garland or display them on your Christmas tree. This will give your holiday décor purpose of recycling them and this year will give your home a new look and also save you money!
