Easy Moving Day Recipes

Pizza delivery may seem like the obvious food choice on moving day for some, but what if your family is longing for something more home-cooked after a long day of moving? Too many boxes crowding the kitchen? Is your fridge still disconnected? Not sure how to turn on the new oven? Don’t worry, I’ve found some amazingly simple vegetarian moving day recipes on Pinterest that are perfect for your first meal in your new home. Your kitchen may still be in boxes, but you can open a wine bottle, plug in your microwave and enjoy these delicious moving day recipes.

Is there anything more comforting after a long day of moving than eating creamy mac and cheese? This comfort food usually requires the use of a pot, strainer and utensils, but this is one my favorite moving day recipes that keeps dirty dishes down to a minimum. Find a mug, plug in the microwave and in 5 to 6 min you have your first entrée. For a step-by-step, check out the instant mug o’ mac and cheese recipe here.

Want to add some veggies to your meal? Skip the pots and messy clean up, and steam your veggies in a ziploc bag. Make sure your baggie is BPA free and safe for microwave use. You can even season the veggies with some butter and herbs for a delicious side dish. Follow the easy step-by-step recipe for steamed veggies from My Fussy Eater.

Skip the wait for delivery pizza and make your own personal-size pita pizza. Use any veggies you have on hand, such as sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms or spinach, and sprinkle them over your pita. Add some cheese and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes. This easy DIY gourmet pizza kicks all delivery pizzas in the crust! Check out the full recipe on Small Kitchen College.

Can’t find your foil or oven racks? No worries, grab some paper towels and use your microwave to bake your potato. Add your favorite toppings and voila! Dinner is ready. The full recipe found on “Eating on a Dime” reminds us to wash the potatoes beforehand, of course, and skip the foil.

Obviously, a hard day of work requires celebration! What’s a celebration without dessert? Once you clean our your mac and cheese mug, use it again to make yourself a brownie-in-a-mug! Combine a few simple ingredients, press a few buttons on the microwave and you’ve made a brownie! Moving day just ended on a happy note with these moving day recipes!
