It seems that every other place to get moving to in the Los Angeles area ends in “Beach.” What makes each one special? Well Long Beach, CA is definitely one that has many special aspects to it. It’s so much more than just another beach town! (Long Beach is actually the seventh largest city in California!) Are you thinking about moving to Long Beach? You should be! Check out why Long Beach deserves to be called special:

Long Beach Fun

Long Beach is home to fun places to explore like the Queen Mary, a historic ocean liner and WWII troopship. During certain holidays like Halloween, New Year’s Eve, and July 4th, the Queen Mary becomes the place to be to celebrate with a scare-fest, fireworks, and parties. Long Beach never has a dull moment!

Love sea life? The Aquarium of the Pacific is conveniently located in Long Beach. The aquarium just opened a new penguin habitat that you won’t want to miss. There is also a 350,000-gallon Tropical Reef Habitat that the aquarium allows certified divers to explore. Get your scuba gear ready!

Long Beach also hosts the Long Beach Bayou Festival every summer. Grab your sunscreen and get your fix of Creole food. Mmmmm. The Long Beach Grand Prix is another fun event to watch in April.

Long Beach Arts & Culture

You don’t need to leave Long Beach to find great art and culture! Long Beach has a community of small galleries that are great places to explore. Every second Saturday, Long Beach even hosts a free Artwalk with live music, art, and fun! Long Beach is also home to many great museums like the Long Beach Museum of Art, the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), and the Banning Museum.

If you’re looking for a performance, the Carpenter Performing Arts Center at CSULB, the Long Beach Playhouse, and The Vault Long Beach are great venues to see what’s happening. For music, look no further than the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra. The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show & Cruise is also a fun treat.

Long Beach Education

Want to nourish and enrich your brain after a day at the beach? Get moving to Long Beach asap! With a community college (Long Beach City College) and a CSU (California State University Long Beach), Long Beach is a great place to get an education. CSULB, nicknamed “The Beach”, is the second largest campus in the CSU system and has an impressively high enrollment. Grab your textbooks, and go study with the sand between your toes.
