Art for a Good Cause: CanstructionLA

Canned Food Art - Fire Hydrant by swanksalot (CC BY-SA 2.0)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to create art out of canned food? Wonder no more! This weekend, Angelenos can get a glimpse at some stunning canned food art thanks to the March CanstructionLA Competition (scroll down for the location and time). CanstructionLA is an organization that invites architects, engineers, and designers to create fun and exciting art structures strictly out of canned food! There are even judges to award prizes to the best canned food art display.

After the event is over, they donate all of the cans to the Los Angeles Food Bank. How amazing is that? The amount of work that goes into these canned food art structures is unbelievable! It really gives artists a chance to express themselves and help others.

Get prepared for take off! This rocket made out of cans is out of this world!  The attention to detail is extraordinary!

People can even create characters from movies, like the alien from Toy Story! This structure looks enormous. I can’t even imagine the amount of time these artists spend creating a piece like this. Truly amazing!
