Howyiz Everyone! March has got me seeing green! Spring is in the air. The leaves are returning to the trees and green grass in swaying in the breeze. One of the greenest holidays of them all is just around the corner. I’m talking about St. Patrick’s Day of course. Here in America we like to celebrate just as much as they do in Ireland. You don’t need a four leaf clover to find a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in California. Let’s take a look at what’s going on just over the rainbow and get moving to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in California.
St. Patrick’s Day: Grand Grub
There are so many delicious Irish foods, it’s hard to choose which ones I like best. There were a few that stood out nonetheless. These recipes will have you feeling grand altogether! This traditional corned beef and cabbage recipe takes some time to make, but it’s worth the wait. Skip the yeast and have a go at this Irish Brown Bread. Go for the gold(en) potato! Try this hearty recipe for Boxty, an Irish classic similar to a potato cake. Throw in a few Mini Vegan Leprechaun Cakes for the wee ones and you’ve got yourself a fine St. Patrick’s Day meal.
St. Patrick’s Day: Fine Festivals
St. Patrick’s Day celebrations take place all over California. Each town has their own unique way of celebrating. If you’re going to be in the Los Angeles area, follow the rainbow all the way to the end and join the festivities at the LA County Irish Fair and Music Festival. Head south for your pot of gold and take part in the South Bay St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival in Hermosa Beach. Gather the lads and lassies for a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Show at the L.A. Festival St. Patrick’s Day Festival.
St. Patrick’s Day: Proper Parades
The Ventura County St. Patrick’s Day Parade will feature several floats, performances, and dances dedicated to the troops. Head south to San Diego for the magically delicious St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival in Balboa Park. It will feature over 120 parade entrees, including: floats, marching bands, and leprechauns! Enjoy some tunes over in Pershing Square at the St. Patrick’s Day Concert. Follow the band afterward through the streets of LA for the parade. No matter where you are in California on St. Patrick’s Day, every place will feel like the end of the rainbow!
