DIY Holiday Cookie Fun

For some cold nights don’t sound too exciting, but in my household it was something I always looked forward to. It meant that my mom would bake her delicious homemade cookies. With the oven on, the house would warm up and the scent of the cookies could be smelled throughout the house. Thinking about the way the cookies smelled and would taste would make me forget about how cold it was outside.  Once the timer would ring at zero, I would help my mom take out the batch of cookies from the oven. Now every winter season, we’ve made it a tradition to bake and eat holiday cookies. They’re just as yummy as regular round cookies only that these are more fun because they’re more festive and they have cool shapes. Next time you’re craving cookies, don’t go to the store and buy them. Instead, you can make them from the comfort of your home.

Not only are sugar cookies great to eat, but they’re also fun to decorate.  You can use holiday cookie cutters to get into the spirit and decorate them as you wish. Most of the time I like to add green, red or blue icing on my cookies and top it off with colorful sprinkles to make it look festive. Some of the ingredients you’ll be needing will be flour, eggs, sugar and milk just to name a few. For the full recipe on how to make these sweet cookies, click here.

If you enjoyed decorating the sugar cookies, then the fun doesn’t have to end there. Once your gingerbread man shaped cookies come out of the the oven, you can adorn your gingerbread man cookies. You can decorate them the traditional route with buttons down the middle or create your own design. You can also add raisins to make it their eyes or M&M’s for extra sweetness.

Trick or treating happened over a month ago and if you haven’t finished all of your fun size M&M’s, then start gathering them up. You will be needing them to create these delicious, chewy M&M cookies. When I see these candies on cookies, they remind me of colored Christmas lights on a tree, which makes it perfect for this holiday season.  Best part is that they’re super simple to make and are ready within minutes. Want to go the extra mile and make these cookies a special gift? You can order customized M&Ms and engrave them with a special message for your loved ones.
