Residential
I yelped a bunch of moving companies and called them all, with this one being one of the few to pick up. After a few minutes of exchanging details on where I wanted to move from and to and about how much stuff I had, I was able to get a quote. There were different times to choose from (morning or afternoon), how many people you wanted (2-3 man team), a guesstimate of how many hours it will take…and then SURPRISE! Oh what’s that? You were referred by a friend? Who? Let me look him up?
5 minutes later and they told me they would give me the same (cheaper) pricing he got. Thanks, friend :).
I scheduled my move from Berkeley to SF, confirmed the details, and was done in a matter of minutes.
On the day of the move, everything went nice and smooth. Despite my terrible packing (I had bags of loose articles that they ended up placing into wardrobe boxes that are considered FREE, unlike regular boxes), they were in and out and away to my new place pronto.
Quick, painless, everything unbroken, would definitely use again. Did I mention there was a yelp deal that made this whole experience that much sweeter?
This moving team was outstanding, from the estimate all the way through to the finish!
We called them in last minute to move our family run business when it became clear that the original (and landlord recommended) moving company
(American Relocation & Logistics) was WAY over charging us.
Fortunately for us, Northstar gave us a fair estimate AND got it done in half the time and for HALF the price the other company quoted.
Great company!
For my most recent move from LA to SF I used north star twice (I had a packed storage unit) which means they did 4 moves total. Each move they were EARLY and nearly beat me driving up to San Fran. It was a bit pricey at the end but you get pay for and they are very flexible with giving you deals. So go online and find those coupons, they will help! Northstar even accepted a coupon AFTER my move was complete and paid for. They went out of their way to refund my credit card for the coupon amount which I forgot about until everything was done. Definitely will use them again.
If you’re looking for super fast, efficient and never failing punctuality for your upcoming move, you need to pick these guys. I’ve done a handful of interstate
moves, and just thinking about the process makes me want forgo all my possessions and live on a beach in Bali forever, but knowing there is a business
dedicated to getting your stuff to you SO FAST no matter where your destination is makes the stress somewhat bearable.

I called to make my appointment and they had no trouble scheduling me for the time I wanted. I can’t remember her name, but the girl that booked the appointment also mentioned the Yelp deal while I was on the phone. It was a pleasant surprise because a lot of places won’t mention special deals when it means they get paid less.
Day of the move: they sent 3 guys to move my 1 bedroom apt to another 1 bedroom apt about 10 miles away (I know it’s not far at all, but it cuts my commute down by 20 minutes). They were scheduled to arrive between 8 and 10 AM. I got a call at 7:45 saying they’d be there in 20 min. Great! When they arrived, the head guy went over the contract and pricing with me. He quoted $1200 dollars and said “This number is going to be scary, but it’s a purposely high estimate just so we don’t go over it.” Understandable, but I was still estimating to pay about $500 when all was said and done. I had pretty much packed everything and my apartment was basically empty by 10 AM. They got to my new place and everything was unloaded in about an hour.
After everything was unpacked, the earlier quote was updated and the total came out to less than $300 (with the Yelp deal). This also included all materials (4 rolls of tape and some plastic wrap) so it was a great deal!
I would absolutely use NorthStar again!
