I chose NorthStar Movers on the recommendation of a friend and after doing my due diligence of review-reading and price-shopping with both NorthStar Movers and other moving companies. I was not disappointed and highly recommend NorthStar Movers.
My 3 movers were scheduled to arrive between 8 & 10 am. Chris, Obidio, and Ramiro arrived just after 8–Chris even rang beforehand letting me know they were on their way. My move was quite local, and these 3 got it done well under the estimated time even with packing up the odds and ends that I
had been unable to pack due to running out of steam…and boxes. They took great care with all my belongings and my new place where they put plastic coverings down on my nice hardwood floors.
I had never hired movers before, and this was a great 1st experience. I’m hoping to not have to move in the next few years, but if I do, I’ll be sure to call North Star Movers again.
Estimated time was about 12-6 PM, they showed up at about 3:30 PM, and now at 6:30 PM I’m just about all loaded up into my new apartment! Adrian, Misael, Jose, and Vidal were all very helpful, were careful with my stuff, took direction well, and overall made my moving experience very pleasant. Anything you don’t have packed, they can get together very quickly. All in all, I am very satisfied with my experience with North Star and would recommend to others, especially with the Yelp coupon.

From start to finish they were very professional, overly courteous and friendly to make sure every part of your move is done smoothly. Alma was the lady we spoke to on the phone to get things started and she always sounded like she had your best interest in mind. The guy “John” and the 2 other movers (who deserves huge amount of recognition) also made sure our time was valuable and didn’t waste any time moving.
I also give them 5 Stars because we did have an incident with another “5 Star” moving company that really was a “1 Star”. Feel free to scroll down to read that post about a year ago. So when I say that NorthStar deserves 5 Stars…we truly mean it. We would definitely use them again in the future.
By far the best moving company we have used, they were punctual, patient and very respectful. They did not break or damage anything and they waited until we unpacked all the wardrobe boxes. They even helped with the packing and that was not part of the deal. They assembled everything including our kids complicated bunk bed. I would highly recommend them for any future move. The best part was the price was right and they came before hand to give an estimate so if the move exceeded the estimate you were not responsible for the difference. In our case our move exceeded and we were safe so we saved in the end.
That did a very good job. They were efficient, pleasant, and continued working diligently until the move was complete. They also took time and care not to damage any items in transit.
Price was reasonable. Highly recommended.

Gil came over to assess my move and was extremely communicative and accessible by phone and email. He quoted me a great price and I scheduled them.
They checked in on me before the move date and gave me ample notice, as promised, on the day of the move.
Angel G, Nari, Enrique and Rafael helped me pack up my Los Angeles apartment. I had packed most of my stuff but there will still quite a few odds and ends
about. Angel walked me through the process calmly and was extremely helpful when it turned out I had a few more boxes than originally estimated. The crew
handled my belongings carefully and packed everything neatly and quickly. They all worked very well together and made the whole process very easy.
I was given a window for delivery in Austin, Tx. Again, they checked in with me while the scheduling was being sorted out. They called me 24 hours in advance
to confirm their arrival and then again, as promised, an hour before they arrived.
My boyfriend was the one home to receive the shipment and I didn’t know that paperwork had to be completed to approve the release of my goods to him. But
it was no problem. They sent the paper via email, I signed it, sent it back and all of my stuff was unloaded and placed in 45 minutes. I’m not sure of the names of
the guys who delivered, but they were great as well.
Consistent communication, no hidden fees, all very straightforward – and everyone associated was pleasant and polite.
This company has obviously listened to its customers and provides a service that is not only solid but affordable. I will be using them again.
We moved from a 4th floor loft in San Francisco in a building that had no elevator. Not only did Diego, Brian, and Juan C. not complain once, they moved faster than any movers I’ve ever seen. They showed up on time, were extremely respectful, and did not slow down once. I will highly recommend Northstar to any friends who are moving in the future.

This is part 1 of my 2 part review of NorthStar Moving. First off, this is the first time I have actually used a moving company, in the past I have moved myself, and my family of 6, with only the assistance of family and friends and LOTS of pizza. I have, however, explored using a moving company in the past, which involved me calling several companies, having estimators come out and quote the move, etc. So I have some experience with this phase of the process, and in the past it has been fair to subpar.
My wife did a ton of research, and we decided NorthStar would be the company we tried first. I called in, and within a minute I was speaking with Jessica who expertly and pleasantly got me all setup for Michael, our estimator, to come onsite and do the estimate. THANK YOU JESSICA! The initial experience was so good I decided not to explore any other options.
Michael came out, showed up exactly on time, and the estimate process went smooth as well. He informed me well on the process, and upcoming move. THANK YOU MICHAEL!!
Since the estimate, I have had several things pop up, all of which Michael helped me with. Then, the best part happened, I got a call from Rebecca yesterday to finalize everything. I was on the road, and in meetings, and Rebecca was patient, responsive, answered all of my remaining questions and concerns. Since I was not able to take notes, she then summarized everything in an email, and made it easy for me to access all of the information I needed. THANK YOU SO MUCH REBECCA!!!! YOU ARE THE BESTEST!!
So far so good, the movers show up this Sunday, and are scheduled to deliver the 26th-27th of December. I will do a “post mortum” review after everything is done. Wish us luck!
Finally getting around to part 2 of my 2 part review (Please read my first review dated 12/18/2014). Wanted to wait until I was completely unpacked, and any and all issues were resolved to do my follow up.
Move in day happened exactly when they said it would, and they showed up first thing in the morning with a crew of 6 ready to roll. The crew was great, and they unpacked and reassembled everything perfectly! My only complaint was the amount of tape involved. The unpack crew got most of it, but a few of the items they missed were a pain to get the tape off of. Other than that, I was completely satisfied with the move in process!
I noticed a couple of weeks ago that 1 small box containing a few bathroom items, as well as my shop-vac were missing. I worked with customer service, and I am more than happy to say that by following the process my issues have all been reconciled! I understand when you have a move of this magnitude (mine required 2 trucks), there is a chance of misplaced items. Northstar was fabulous, they took care of me every step of the way. I actually like to see how a company handles adversity. If everything goes according to plan, you have no way to judge how they will react when things dont go smoothly. Northstar gets 6 stars (although stupid Yelp would only allow me to get them 5).
These guys are amazing! We had an incredible experience with them. They were prompt, professional, worked quickly and everything they moved remained in tact. I highly recommend using them, especially if you can get Jorge G., Daniel T. and Miguel S. They are a great crew.
I hate moving but Northstar made it the best experience possible. Orlando, Hannes and Jr made the day easy and fun. They loaded, unloaded without complaint.

I recently moved with NorthStar Moving and the move was really good. It was a long drive from Milpitas to San Francisco, but the movers did a a really good job. They were able to accommodate me last minute. I was satisfied with the work 🙂

I used NorthStar Moving Company to help with a move in Marin County and they were exceptional. Gustavo, Ricardo, and Deondre showed up early to begin the move, they took extra care wrapping and securing large items, and they were very resourceful when it came to getting large pieces of furniture (couches and beds) through tight quarters. They didn’t take breaks in between locations, they were personable, and they made
sure everything they moved was where I wanted it to be in the new home.
I would definitely recommend NorthStar as a quality, efficient moving option in the Bay Area!

Absolutely flawless, painless move from SF to the East Bay. Our crew arrived right on time at 8:00 a.m. and it is now 2:00 p.m. as I write this and they are just wrapping up. We had a couple of behemoth pieces and our three-man crew handled them no problem. I have moved many times during my 40-plus years and this was by far the most efficient, diligent service I’ve experienced.
Wow! Excellent service. Went the extra mile. Javier Madrid, Adrian, Juan, and Misa were terrific. They brought an extra mover no charge, were polite and courteous, finished moving a 3 bedroom house and disassembled and assembled furniture in 3 hours. I barley lifted a finger. Used NorthStar for the first time and they were great! Christopher, Ramiro and Ovidio were my movers and they seriously hustled. My move was slightly complicated: going from a storage unit and then a 2nd story apt and moving everything into a house up a hill. These guys RAN up those stairs and got the job completed in record time. Highly recommended 🙂
NorthStar came highly recommended by several trusted friends of mine who had recently used them for Bay Area move. These friends had hoarding tendencies not unlike mine so I knew my belongings would be in good hands when I booked! There are a lot of details to go over when you embark upon the daunting task of a cross country move, and NorthStar has it all figured out so you don’t have to fret about it. I pored over every section on their website that detailed should be done in preparation for the move and made sure I did it.
My husband and I arranged for an estimator to come to our apartment in San Francisco to determine a flat fee amount we’d pay, determined by weight. Presumably the estimator eyeballs the amount of crap you have and then determines the weight, supplies and other moving needs. Our estimator was scheduled to arrive between 9am and 11am, but didn’t turn up until 1:30pm, right when my landlord had scheduled an open house to rent our unit. Once he arrived though, he worked swiftly to eyeball the contents of the apartment, provide a reasonable estimate and hand over the paperwork.
We had another moving company pack our stuff so everything would be ready for moving day. I’ve attempted to pack my own things before and it ended in tears so I would highly recommend splurging for packing services – it also motivates you to rip the bandaid of unpacking off more quickly, since you don’t know where anything is…
On moving day in SF a team of 5 guys expertly padded the remaining items that my professional packers hadn’t protected/packed, and easily loaded them into the truck. The team was outstanding. They moved quickly, were very careful with my belongings and hardly paused throughout the move to take a break! Towards the end of the loading process I was informed that there were more boxes than estimated and the volume was going to go up. I later emailed the estimator and was able to renegotiate my rate so it’d be closer to the original estimate, since that was what we had agreed to.
Fast forward to the receiving end of the move 2.5 weeks later: you’re given a range of dates since your belongings are bundled with those of other customers who are either on the way or in the same city. I was a little panicky about securing the arrival date as I was juggling a 2 week vacation just before Thanksgiving and absolutely needed to be delivered and unpacked before I left, so at times it felt like I was stalking my moving rep inquiring about dates, but they assured me my stuff would arrive in the given window.
Our stuff arrived in the nick of time but we had some communication problems with the drivers (understandably, these guys are hired for their driving, lifting and assembly skills and not conversation or negotiation). I recommend going through the dispatchers at HQ when your driver is close to make sure all the details are ironed out. We had 4 guys (2 from the long distance drive and 2 were local contractors) and they moved everything into our house and put it exactly where we requested. Several hours after the guys left, they called to say they had found 4 extra boxes that were mixed up with another move and delivered them to us, among them, several key components of living room furniture. I fully unpacked everything (over 100 boxes) by the next evening and not a single hair was out of place. Really impressive considering the amount of crap that had been crammed in those boxes. Thank you!!
All told, just under $5000 including tip on both sides to move a 1 bedroom apartment from SF to Austin.
Juan and his team helped my family move in the Bay Area a few months ago, and did a great job. They seemed to work as quickly as possible while still taking care of everything. On time arrival and provided an accurate quote of time and cost for the move.
