Everything went smoothly. The moving guys were really nice and super efficient. They got everything out of my place in an hour. They delivered my stuff in the designated time window and were even able to change the delivery time to work with my schedule. They also were super efficient when dropping everything off.
The best part – they didn’t rip me off!! It came up to be half the cost a lot of other companies quoted me. I used their yelp deal which made the cost even sweeter 🙂

I picked Northstar based on Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. 3 guys completely packed our entire apartment — piece by piece — and moved everything across town.
They were on time — called us in advance to let us know they were on their way — and were friendly, professional and awesome to work with. Miguel in particular did a great job packing our kitchen, which had a million breakable items (glasses, plates, etc.). Nothing broke and we were incredibly happy with the quality of the packing.
What’s more, after the fact, our crummy landlord from our old building called to say that the front door of our old apartment had been damaged in the move. While not even convinced that our movers caused the damage, I called Northstar to ask if they could help me take care of it. I was initially nervous to contact them because I’m so used to companies pushing back so they don’t have to pay for damages.
This was entirely different. Wendy (from their service department) called me back immediately. The damages were paid for with absolutely no headache and I was honestly blown away by how they handled it with such professionalism and ease.
I’ve never seen a company have such high integrity and great customer service. We couldn’t have been happier with Northstar and are so thankful that we chose them. We’ll be coming back!!

For the fourth time in 2 years, North Star Movers came through for me. This morning’s team John Henry Wilson III, Factor and Oscar arrived early, moved carefully and finished the job quickly! Cheap and professional. Aren’t those the only two things that you are looking for in a moving company. People that are professional and are willing to do it at a reasonable price. I will use them again if move.
Solid group. They were on time for the pick-up and drop off. Stayed within estimate and were careful with all items. Javier was a great lead day-of. He made sure to communicate and ensure that everything got where it needed to be.
On the back end, Alex Ramirez was attentive in coordinating everything with the office. Additionally, after the move he followed up with a billing question promptly. Would have them move me any day.

I was moving about 10 miles / 15-17 minutes away.
It was tough to find a good moving company. I compared reviews from both Yelp and Angies List. I got quotes from several companies but NorthStar stood out the best in terms of pricing and reviews. I worked with Alex R. who was their on-site estimator. He’ll meet with you and go through everything that’s moving to give you an accurate “not to exceed” quote. He was great! Very knowledgeable and professional.
A few days before the move, I received a reminder call from their main office in LA.
The 4 movers arrived 10 minutes early in a huge truck and were ready to go. You let them know what items you want wrapped in blankets (you just pay extra for the rolls of tape used). You should also factor in the time they spend wrapping up something versus moving boxes. It’s worth it for fragile items or furniture that can get scratched.
If you buy external moving insurance (HIGHLY recommended), you also let the foreman know what items those are. I would also HIGHLY recommend taking detailed pictures of those items as well as verifying with the foreman that the items work (for example, turn on the tv before / after they move it).
The movers were professional and quick. They provided free wardrobe boxes. I made sure I had some cold bottled water for them.
When they arrive at your destination and before they unload, they estimate the amount of time it will take to unload and will require you to pay first (they will refund the difference if it takes less time than estimated). Per state law, they’ll take the driving time and double it to cover the transportation costs. Don’t be surprised if it’s a little longer than expected. For me, I can drive from point A to B in about 17 minutes. But with the truck it took them about 30 minutes. They followed me to the destination and drove extra carefully, which meant a little slower. That’s OK with me! I’d rather then arrive safely than to have my belongings damaged in an accident.
