How did we turn a potential nightmare move into literally the best moving experience we have ever had? Hired North Star. Yeah I know, it sounds like a cheesy ad but it’s the truth and my wife and I have moved 7 times in total over the years.
Here’s how this North Star crew earned a $100 tip and lunch from us at the end of the day.
We chose to move on Friday FEB 28th and of course that would be one of the rainiest days in recent L.A. history ( according the the weather dude in LA it rained more on our move day than the total for the previous 18 months combined). So the nerves and stress were off the charts that morning….until Agustine and his crew showed up and started hustling like a NASCAR pit crew, wrapping, prepping and moving stuff.
These guys were pros!
They wrapped the furniture with plastic, covered by pads, covered by plastic again and only moved items between breaks of any rain (kept our stuff bone dry al day).
They also had an elevator move on both ends of the move and a LONG walk at the destination point but never complained, and actually worked faster on the destination to meet the time I was given in the estimate.
This is THE 1ST TIME EVER I did a move and did not have hidden costs or workers slacking at the end to increase the fee and it was appreciated.
Great service. Great staff and the guy named Ron Cohen that came out to do the estimate stayed in touch with me early that day and THROUGHOUT the day, another first. In the past these sales guys get a deal signed and disappear but Ron was the opposite, contacted me three time throughout the day until the move was complete.
These guys were a class act. I can definitely vouch for Agustine and his crew of Saul and Oscar….plus they had swag with their matching shirts and digs.
If there were 6 stars I would’ve handed that out without hesitation. Highly recommend these guys. And if you’re reading this North Star….thank you.

Used North Star Moving Company this last week for my move from LA to SF and it was great. A rep visited the apartment 1st to see what I was
moving and gave me an estimate. I was moving my bedroom, kitchen table, some chairs, side tables and 15 boxes and it ended up being around
$1,000. The movers showed up on time and worked quickly. They provided wardrobe boxes and had all of the packing materials to protect all the furniture
(quilts, shrink wrap etc). I was very impressed with how much care they put into wrap the furniture, I really appreciated.
The only cavaot is that the movers have a 1-7 business day arrival period. I understand why, but I just wished I had more concert of an idea
of the arrival. My stuff ended up coming in 4 days and they called about an hour before arrival. These movers also worked quickly.
All together, everyone I interacted with was nice, accommodating and very professional. I would use them again in the future.
Second experience with them and it was a solid moving experience considering that I hate moving. Juan Zepeda, Eliseo Figueroa and Jairo Gomez did a great job! Each of them was very courteous and professional. I would use these guys again to move in a heartbeat.
These guys were great. We were told they would show up between 8 and 9 am on a Saturday. They called at 7:15 saying they would be around 8 am and showed up right at 8.
There were 3 guys and they were incredibly efficient. We had roughly 30 boxes and furniture as part of a 900 square foot apartment.
They moved our boxes in about 45 minutes and then took about another hour to do the rest. They then drove 45 minutes to our place and unpacked everything.
All told we paid $640 for 5 hours including the coupon we got on Yelp. These guys were great.
There were a couple of shelving units that they took apart that now don’t work totally so we have to find a part to keep the shelving upright but otherwise everything was in good order.

I had an excellent experience the first two times I used them but this last time far exceeded my expectations. Jonathan went over and beyond trying to please and make sure the job was done in a curious and professional manor. His team worked quickly and always with the utmost care for my belongings. I cannot say enough about this company. I will definitely recommend NorthStar to all my friends and family.

I moved from Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington. I’ve had some TERRIBLE experiences with moving companies and wanted to avoid any broken or stolen items during this move. A friend recommended Northstar and I honestly could not have been happier with their service.

I was the most annoying customer, I kept adding and removing items after my initial quote to bring down the cost and Gil, my relocation specialist, was always very responsive and understanding.
On moving day they provide a window for when the movers might arrive– 8:30-10:30, the movers arrived at exactly at 8:30AM. They were extremely thorough, careful and fast! They have a system to track your things to make sure you get all your belongings and my things arrived within the estimated time frame. Of all the many things that I moved I only had two minor damages, cracks in my dresser and standing fan. The claims process was easy peasy and very fair. Monica was on top of it and very pleasant to work with. I can’t say enough about their customer service.

We were referred to NorthStar from a friend who used them and had nothing but great things to say, our experience was the same. Great company and customer service is an A+. We moved from Los Angeles to Orange County and everything went quickly, I do recommend getting a quote before your move so you have no surprises on the cost. We did so and our total ended up being $100 LESS than our quote so that was a nice surprise because hiring a good moving company is not cheap. We will definitely be using them for our next move, and that’s a promise.
Our closing date moved up and we were scrambling for a moving company. Friends had used NorthStar for their move 4 years ago and recommended we give them a call. We couldn’t have been happier – from the first call with Beatriz, who answered all our questions/concerns and was able to schedule us on the date we needed, to the actual move with Francisco, Isak and Gerson, who arrived on time and treated our furniture and belongings with care and respect. With their patience and professionalism we were moved across town and into our new place with only a half hour of OT…and I thought it would take a lot longer! We will be happy to use them again and recommend them to everyone we know!

Jason, Rene and Rodolfo(?) were our movers a couple of weeks ago in Oakland. Jason was professional, efficient and fast. They did the best job and were really a pleasure to work with from the time that they called to say they were on their way through departure from our drop off point. We will definitely be asking for them (by name) to help us on our next move! Even our scheduling point of contact based in LA, Jessica, was so nice and very helpful. I couldn’t believe the level of service and prompt turnaround time given my last minute request for movers. Price was also totally reasonable and less than I’d expected (and was willing) to pay. Atem, Noe and Jose did a great job moving us across town. They worked hard, fast and carefully. Two of our large pieces had to be taken apart and reassembled. No problem. And our biggest heaviest piece, a solid wood teak buffet with glass doors arrived without a scratch. They did it all in three hours. Amazing. We tipped them well. I would use them again and have already recommended them to a neighbor

I will say I was a little worried at first when 3 small dudes showed up at my house this morning but they got started right away without trouble.
I had to stop at my storage unit before the final destination and since it was so close (only two blocks away) they waived the drive time.
Overall my move was quick and painless – 4 hours from downtown to weho and they even put my bed together. I used my Yelp coupon and got a great deal. I would definitely use them again!

These guys kick butt! I’m 8 months pregnant and my husband works a zillion hours a week. Even still we somehow thought we’d be able to pack our stuff ourselves in time for moving day. No such luck.
