I think if you take the Real Age test online, moving adds a year to your life. Moving is awful. “Soul sucking” might be the most apt term to describe the whole experience. But, if you have to move, NorthStar is the best option for professional movers in the Bay Area. I requested several quotes from various moving companies. North Star was the first to respond–and they offered the lowest quote. Other companies charge the same hourly rate, but tack on a hefty gas fee. NorthStar doesn’t. With the yelp deal, NorthStar comes out to be a much better deal than any other mover I saw. Their customer service was consistently extremely good. And the movers themselves are polite, professional, and efficient. These guys were awesome. Although I paid for a three man crew, they threw in a fourth mover free since he was working on a larger job later in the day.  I’m also pretty sure they generously underestimated the drive and move time total (California law requires that they charge double drive time. When I learned this, I threatened yet again  to move to New Hampshire. Live free or die, baby). I paid the 3 hour minimum for my move from San Mateo County to Marin County. 

If you want to mnimize the stress of moving, save yourself some time and book NorthStar–it isn’t even worth the time to research other movers.

These guys were fast, efficient, helpful and the price was totally reasonable. The foreman Tao (sp) was wonderful…they were on time and didn’t waste any of my time….helped me put things together and were very understanding. Would absolutely use them again.   Made me take notice of any damage that my furniture had already sustained so not to blame them and were very accommodating.

Great moving experience.  From the beginning to the end, the crews were honest and courteous. They called the day before the move to confirm the time window when they’ll be arriving.  On the day of the move, they called again to let me know when the estimated time they were arriving. Our North Star crew did a fantastic job yesterday!! We had two large storage units and a 2 BDR apartment to load for a move into a house. Jason and his crew of three other men showed up at the storage units on time, and even a little early, on a Saturday morning! This crew worked tirelessly all day, carrying heavy furniture and boxes up and down 4 half-floors. The scheduler in the office was great in helping us estimate using 2 trucks and 4 men for the move. Exactly what we needed!

This crew was careful and respectful of our things and really worked well together. Couldn’t be happier with a moving company and will use them again for any local move we might have. Definitely recommend this company!!

We moved my elderly parents this weekend.  A difficult move for all concerned.   We are all still speaking to each other, thanks in part to the professional, careful and organized team from NorthStar.

Not only did the movers arrive on time, they were early!  They were professional and worked very hard. They covered all of my furniture in blankets and it all arrived safely and in perfect condition!  They guys were so awesome, I bought them breakfast.  They were very thankful and very courteous.  I recommend the company with full enthusiasm.

I did a ton of research (i’m a perfectionist/maximizer) and this truly is the best. The staff was amazing – they were really quick, honest, efficient guys. Went out of their way to help me. I’m definitely getting them again when I move next. Trust me – this will make your life better and this is the company to go with.

These guys are hands-down the best moving company I have ever experienced, and I have moved A LOT over the years. I have used them for both a long-distance move (SoCal to NorCal) and also a couple of local moves in Los Angeles. They are always prompt, totally ethical, reasonably priced, and I have not had even so much as a nick in any of my furniture.

Friendly, helpful and on time.

This past weekend was our third time using NorthStar Moving.  They were great this time (as well as the other two times).  They arrived within the promised time and moved our stuff with care (they protected all our furniture with padding and shrink wrap).  We will not hesitate to use them again for our next move!

I’ve North Star twice now. And both times they’ve been excellent. 

From the time of making a reservation to completion of moving, everything went smoothly and everyone involved at North Star were great

We were moving within San Francisco, 5 miles away from the condo that we were renting
Move me on a Sunday? No problem.
Punctual? Move was scheduled for 0800-1000. Jason called at 0730 and asked if they could arrive earlier. Jason and his team (Gustavo, Rudolpho, Rene) were at our door-step at 0745.
Efficient? They had us packed, moved into our new place, and left by 1230. We did facilitate the move by selling some furniture and transferring over all of our clothing and kitchen stuff.
Careful? Yes. No marked/dented walls or scratched floors at our destination. We did transfer most of our breakable/valuable stuff before the actual move day.
Would I hire them again? Absolutely. Because of the work that we did before the move, the actual price came out to 50% of the estimate. I have moved multiple times and I would rate this experience in the top two of my moves (and I hate moving).

I needed to move rather quickly from Westchester to Woodland Hills.  The movers arrived on time, worked quickly, and were very polite. No items where missing or damaged during the move.  I would definitely recommend them to anyone needs quick and reliable movers.

This was the best moving experience I have ever had.  The movers arrived right on time, and were incredibly polite and helpful. They were fast and efficient and had our entire apartment moved in under three hours–we were so impressed.  They charge by the hour, but it was clear they were not working the clock!  They were also really careful with our stuff, and helped us break down everything and then put it back together. I also loved that the asked me where I wanted everything instead of just dumping everything on the floor. I really can’t say enough about how great the team of movers was. 

The online coupon is also great, and they have really great customer service when you call in for information and to book your appointment.  Just a completely positive experience from start to finish.  I also appreciate that they followed up a few days after the move to make sure everything had gone well and that I was happy. North Star is amazing!

NorthStar did it again! They moved everything from my 4 story walk-up to my new place and they did so in record time. No damages or boxes left behind, crew was great, really appreciate the speed that they moved! Call me a still-very-satisfied customer!

Fast work. Very professional. The team of guys helped move me from Pasadena to Topanga without any trouble at all. Super impressed with all involved. This was my second move w/ NorthStar and I would gladly work w/ them again.
