I just used Northstar Movers again for another move. Everything went perfectly. The staff was some of the more helpful, less pushy people on the phone than the other companies I got quotes from. They called to confirm times with me a day before and even took my request for the movers to get there closer to the noon side of the afternoon time slot. I couldn’t get a morning time slot but the movers showed up around 12:30 which made me very happy since the window they give you is 12-6pm. My move for the equivalent of a 1 bedroom apartment took about 3.5 hours including some packing that I had been slacking on. The men were very helpful and took care to pack my things well but quickly. Everything made it safely with my move and I have not noticed any scratches or marks on any of my things. Again, I would highly recommend this company. Good service, courteous employees, competitive rates, and a yelp deal!
My husband and I have moved about 14 times in the last 16 yrs and this was the first time we ever hired someone to move us. We were a little nervous and I called numerous other companies prior to chosing NorthStar. 1st thing is, dont be afraid when some tatted up guys show up at your door! Gerardo, Christian and Gustavo were great! They called about 30 mins prior to their arrival to say they were on their way which I really appreciated. They came into my home with respect and manners and didnt waste time getting right to the job. After the paperwork was filled out they were quick and efficient at getting all the boxes loaded and taking careful steps to make sure our furniture didnt get damaged. They carefully wrap every piece of furniture in blankets even the furniture that wasnt that nice!) and tape and shrinkwrapped the mattresses and sofa. My husband has 2 large and extremely heavy tool boxes which the guys got on and off the truck with no complaints (even tho I’m sure they were hating it on the inside!) they hussled yet were careful and I cannot say enough good things about them. PLEASE BE SURE TO TIP YOUR MOVERS! THEY ARE HARD WORKING GUYS! I wish I had tipped them more. Thank you NorthStar, I am sure I will be moving again in a couple years and I sure as heck am not ever doing it myself again after this experience!
I’ve moved a handful of times and NorthStar is hands down the best movers in Los Angeles. They are punctual, smooth, and so friendly they even took pictures with my family! Everyone of the movers was efficient and competent. For once I didn’t have to micromanage or worry. They had it under control the whole time. I’m even having them move my office this month and I couldn’t feel better about it. Call them now!
They were great! Efficient, friendly and organized. It cost a little more than we planned because of their double driving policy and some traffic we hit, but that was more poor planning on our part. Used the Yelp deal with no problem. I will definitely be using them again, if we ever move again!
I had a big move to make in a short time way up and halfway across the country for a really important job, transplanting me quickly from LA to Minneapolis. And I had to plan all this a bit more than a month in advance, just on the cusp of my leaving the country for a month. Needless to say, I was really anxious and short on time. So I couldn’t have been luckier than I was when I connected with Ron Cohen at North Star. In a mere couple of days after I first called him, Ron came over to give me an estimate that was a thousand dollars less than those supplied by local representatives from NorthStar’s competitors. Though NorthStar’s movers themselves averaged somewhere in the middle in terms of packing and unloading quality, they were quicker than usual, and arrived earlier than I expected! Best of all, if I had any questions or concerns during the actual process of picking up and delivering my things, Ron was super responsive to my texts and calls. As a person who moves nearly once a year, I can say with confidence that the level of trust and integrity Ron embodies is a real rarity in this business. To wit, he even checked in with me a few weeks later, to make sure I was satisfied. I recommend reaching out to him if you have a move in your near future.
They were great. We didn’t realize that they accidentally left with some of our things and came back to drop it off the next day. Honest, friendly and considerate of our belongings. I would recommend them to anyone moving in this area.
Definitely my go to moving company in LA. Always on time, professional, fairly priced, and never breaks a thing. I’ve used them twice: one on a long haul move from Texas to California, and locally in LA. The customer service and follow up you get before & after is top notch, plus they’re very kind and offer good deals to Yelpers.
This is my second time using NorthStar Moving as I wanted a hassle free and low stress move, I knew NorthStar would deliver. But this second time using NorthStar surpassed the last thanks to NorthStar Moving crew leader Hector Campos and his 2 helpers. I knew we were off to a good start when Hector called me an hour ahead of schedule at 7am. They were in my doorstep by 7:30am and was greeted by Hector and his crew with a professional first impression. They asked for direction and began to work packing my stuff right away. Hector leaded his crew and checked in with me to make sure everything went smoothly. We went past the 3 hour minimum but was impressed I was not charged the full extra hour but only the time actually used which was less than the full hour. I appreciate all your help to Hector and his 2 movers. I dont know how you guys do it day in day out several times a day for a labor intesive moving chore. Northstar did its job by taking the moving stress away from me. Also props to Lynn B. Shimon for the initial appointment set up through her quick email communication and follow-up. I also dealt with Lynn 1st time using Northstar and liked her quick follow-ups. And thank you Alma Lopez for moving up my appointment to earlier time. 🙂 And I took advantage of the Yelp special and saved $50! 😀
What a wonderful moving team!! Hector Lampos and Jose Salazar moved us this month – they were very quick and careful with all of our belongings. They are hard working individuals and very kind/friendly, therefore, I would definitely hire them again and or recommend them to my clients, friends and family.

Moving? A piece of cake! I asked for 5 different quotes, and those guys gave me the best one. Moving from a two bedroom apartment in Santa Monica to a two bedroom condo in South Pasadena with a lot of boxes and very heavy pieces of furniture (L shaped couch, huge buffet, huge desk, dining table… the whole shebang). First of, Ana Coy was always great on the phone, before and after the move. Second, the movers were not only very efficient but also great to talk to: Gustavo and your team, thank you so much. I just moved long distance, from Los Angeles to Providence, RI (nearly as long distance as you can get within the US). As you might expect, I was extremely nervous about an undertaking of this magnitude. Well, having hired NorthStar, I needn’t have worried. The entire moving process was flawless. Alan came out to my place to give me an estimate, which was extremely accurate. There was a bit of a hiccup with the movers arriving but Alan took complete control of the situation and made sure things came out the right way. The moving team was prompt, efficient, professional, polite, and pleasant. On the Providence end, again, movers were prompt, professional, and courteous. Wendy also helped me and was thorough, thoughtful, and extremely helpful. I would absolutely hire NorthStar again, in a heartbeat. They were outstanding and really took the stress out of one of the most stressful things one can undertake.
These guys are awesome!! They were right on time and booked it getting my whole house loaded up and unpacked. They didnt waste any time! They were super polite too. I had to leave to get to work and by the time I got home my whole house was set up. They took the time to roll out the rug in my living room and set up the couch and coffee table. They also put furniture pads on everything so the wood floors wouldnt get scratched up. Loved them!!!! 🙂
Northstar was awesome! Highly recommend them. They were responsive and reached out throughout the process, arrived promptly, finished quickly, and were upfront about costs. My team was Gerardo, Jose and Rene, and they were awesome. Only downside is that I didn’t know whether to tip and didn’t have cash on hand at the time – not sure if this was included or not! Highly recommend and will use again.

I was told my movers would show up between 8am and 11am, they gave me a call at 7:30am and told me they were on their way and they arrived by 7:45am.  Fantastic.  The three men who helped me move did all the necessary work swiftly and carefully.  They were also extremely friendly to talk to.

NorthStar also checked in at every step of the process to make sure the move went smoothly.  It is easy to find a moving company in SF – tough to find a good one.  This is a good one.

The only downside for me personally was that I live alone and having 3 movers may have been excessive for me (they have a minimum of 3 movers help you).  The cost, however, was still comparable to a smaller moving company with fewer men, so it wasn’t like I had to pay for frivolous services.

**Note** have some cash on hand to tip your movers!  They won’t bring it up at all that you can tip them, but you can and they work hard.  I wish I had realized that and had more cash at the ready (downside of an all plastic payment lifestyle).
Great experience here, def. took the time to care my furniture. Pricing fits what you get.

They had everything covered, down to every last nut and bolt. We had almost everything packed ourselves, but they did pack up some lamps and all of our many glass components, desks, tables, etc., mostly flawlessly. They packed up all the loose ends fairly quickly and efficiently and were very attentive to our property in the truck (in our old, crappy downtown neighborhood!)

The foreman, John, was incredibly focused on every detail and was very inventive and vigilant. With no advance notice, he immediately devised a system to get our entire apartment moved in without messing up the white carpet on a rainy day! Great staff of guys, very friendly and funny on an otherwise stressful day.

I have used NorthStar twice. Once in a long distance move from Los Angeles to San Francisco and once from San Francisco to Oakland. Both times Stefy was very useful in helping determine how much help I would need as well as what I could do to help out the movers. For my first move, the moving team was willing to work around my schedule, which meant moving me in to my new apartment at 11:00 PM in the rain. Both moves were fast and everything was delivered in perfect condition. The moving team moved all my furniture into the right place and made sure I knew exactly what was happening every step of the way. I will continue using NorthStar in the future as well as recommending them to all my friends. 

BONUS: Deals through yelp are always great.
I’m very impressed by NorthStar. This is the second time I’ve used them, and very solid experiences both times. The first move was almost 8 years ago  and they were as good if not better than what I remembered. My team of three movers was on time. They moved swiftly and with care. They also were extremely polite and personable young men — an added bonus. A week later, my fiance was moving but we called NorthStar too late for them to fit us in for a move on a weekend day. We used a different company and it was such a different experience. While those men also were professional and got the job done, their pace was significantly slower. Thus, NorthStar also proved to be a good move economically. I’m a pretty fussy consumer, and these folks really proved themselves worthy of a strong review.
I had an amazing experience with NorthStar Movers.  I had Ron Cohen, the relocation specialist come to my apartment to evaluate my items and how long it would take the movers and he did an excellent job.  I highly recommend having someone come to your location and give you an idea of how long it will take so they can provide you with a flat rate.  I had never moved this amount of stuff before and I was so nervous and unsure of what to expect.  Ron was very patient, answered all my questions and was readily available throughout the week to answer any questions I had.  Ask for Ron if you can, he relieved so much of my stress!  And he gave me three of the best movers I could imagine.  They were respectful of my items and very polite to me.  I’m so glad I found them and will 100% use them again!
We had a crew of three–Jason, Sal, and Rene–move us from our spot in Larkspur down to the Peninsula.  They actually showed up 15 minutes early, which gave me time for paperwork and to show them what had to go, and then they got to moving!

A couple tips:
-Everything should go in a box.  If it’s a loose article, small bag, small box, etc, they’ll throw it in a large wardrobe box for the move.  If it’s moving, box it up!
-They wrap all the furniture.  If it’s nice furniture, that’s great!  Since it take a bit of time, though, just point out what doesn’t need to be wrapped.
-If it’s going into storage, make sure you’re crystal clear.  A couple of items that were going to a storage unit were packed away in the back, but the guys were super-accommodating about digging it out.

Overall, a great experience.  They make great time in a 26-foot truck.  The Yelp deal was awesome.  Recommended!
I had used NorthStar over a year ago to move into my current residence and had a great experience. I had contacted them at the last minute for an emergency move and they were able to come first thing the next morning. They did an entire full-service pack and move in about 10 hours (that time was to pack up everything at one location, drove it down the street and unloaded it into the new location).

Unfortunately, we now have to move across the country and contacted them again because our first experience was flawless. On each occasion that I have had to call, I have spoken with Stefy and she has been a blessing and so NICE to speak to. I met with Alan today to get a walk-through onsite estimate for the move and couldn’t be happier with his attitude and professionalism. Moving is such a stressful ordeal, but he was able to answer all of my questions and put my mind at ease. I definitely recommend speaking with Alan when getting an onsite estimate done.

My move is in three weeks and I will be updating my review once we get settled in.
