This was my boyfriend’s and my first time hiring movers and we were BLOWN AWAY.
A group of 3 guys arrived at our old apartment: Mike (team leader), Mordechai & Juan. But before that they called us an hour before arriving to give us a heads up of when we should be expecting them.
We met them downstairs and they gave us the lay of the land. We all went upstairs and they took a look to see what they were going to be dealing with. Mike then went over forms with me and we signed whatever we needed to sign and then he said, “alrighty, we’re going to grab our gear and get started”. And they did.
They had an awesome system and knew exactly how to handle things. They took great care in wrapping our furniture up carefully and they all worked efficiently. They were able to load up our studio full of stuff in a little over an hour.
We’re such noobs at this whole “hiring movers” and felt super uncomfortable seeing other people do things that we are somewhat capable of doing ourselves but mike made sure to make us feel ok.
Even schedule the entire move was easy!! My representative was a woman named Ana and she was so sweet and answered all of my questions and concerns! I also spoke briefly with Gloria (on accident…silly me made duplicate accounts ) and she was very friendly as well!
At the end of our adventure they set our items in the general area of where we wanted them; we then went over paperwork and billing.
North Star charges per hour which I’ve always been a little hesitant about with companies and individuals. I felt that anyone hired to do the actual labor wouldn’t work as quickly or efficiently as they can only to get more money/hours out of me. But honestly these 3 men were amazing. Thank you for everything; for your hard work, your professionalism and your kindness.
We will most likely be moving next year or the year after again…..guess who I’m going to call?!

I reviewed Northstar 7 years ago when we first used them for a full pack and move, and I’m reviewing them again because 7 years later they were EVEN BETTER.
Ron Cohen once again was the awesome point of contact, the manager who helped make all of the arrangements for me.
He sent an AWESOME crew, of William P (the leader), Jorge L and Bryant, and those 3 packed us up SO well, and went above and beyond asking us what we still needed or even just mildly preferred to not have packed yet, and they left those things on purpose. This was huge since we have a newborn with many helpful devices we got to keep that last night in our place.
The next day a 4th guy, Reynaldo was added to their crew to finish the pack and then do the move. When ready for moving they sent over a 2nd truck with yet another 3 guys (wow!) and everyone was friendly and carefully asking where we wanted things. Use them!
Northstar moved me twice and stored my stuff in the interim. Both times they were courteous, clean, professional and efficient. They were careful with my stuff and with the surroundings. Ron visited the home and gave a fair not-to-exceed price and the crew actually did the job for less than the quoted price. Pablo, Jimmy and Deonte were great. For storage, whenever there was a question customer service was very helpful. I have recommended NorthStar many times and will continue to do so.
Junior and his team were great. They packed up our things on a Friday, and moved everything on Saturday. They were on time, and always asked me what my preferences were as they did their work. Very kind and professional. They ended up finishing 30 minutes early, so they I ended paying less than the not-to-exceed estimate!
I love this company. I’ve used them many times and I’m always pleased. The crew today was Pedro, Victor Flores, Elizar. They were quick, friendly and helpful. Thank you! I’ll be calling you again when I move. Thank you!
Just finished my 2nd move with NorthStar! Logan, Ron and Nick were super prompt, professional and worked quickly. They called when they were 30 minutes away so I could prep. This move came together in a hurry because I had another company (Clutter – NEVER use them) no show– so I had 3 days to figure out a way to get all my stuff into storage before starting a construction project. NorthStar was able to squeeze me in with my desired window with 2 days advanced notice. The guys were great and very careful and now my stuff is safely in storage. Thanks again!
I’m so thankful I had the help of this hardworking team (Edgar, Carlos, Rodolfo, and Isael).
From the very start, I had a bit of a parking issue being on a cable car line and my expectation of a smaller vehicle. The moving truck is very big (easily taking up 3 parking spots) so make sure to have enough loading area for it. I only had 2 spots reserved. Despite the underestimation of size on the part of the booking agent, the team did their very best. After several tries fitting into different size spots, they parked around the corner a block over to load my belongings.
Edgar and the entire team of 4 guys were extremely quick-witted and helped problem solve during a very stressful situation, and to top it all off, had an amazing attitude. Several times they were asked to move by residents, cable car operators, and cars honking incessantly, and luckily they finally secured closer parking. They were patient, hardworking, fast moving, and careful with my things the entire time. I don’t think my move would have happened without them.
I would definitely recommend this team, especially to anyone looking to make their move efficient and as relatively stress-free as possible.

Logan helped us move today from Culver City to Brea. We initially moved to a temporary location after selling our original place and the previous movers took 10 hours to complete the job. That move was a 8 mile distance.
Logan finished the same job within 8 hours but the distance was 45 miles! I won’t be using anyone else but NorthStar going forward for all our moves. Not only that, they finished it with a smile and a positive vibe through the heat!

Logan & his team are very professional. Starting with initial phone call with approximate arrival. They came on time, & worked diligently. With such a positive attitude. It’s tough as it is, being on the sidelines while others (albeit hired) are sweating in this heat. Logan & his team didn’t make us feel bad, at all. Absolutely professional. And all our furniture & boxes were handled with care.

Gratitude. That is what I feel after a long hard moving day today. Normally, I would wait a day or so before extolling the virtues of a great experience with a business.
Today is an exception. I am so grateful there are people in the world who are professional yet kind, hard working yet patient, serious yet generous. . . . Every person I spoke with and worked with from NorthStar Moving Company were exactly like this.
My dear late friend, Cassandra E., wrote a nice review of NorthStar Moving in November 2016. I kept that in the back of my mind for the next time I needed to move houses.
That time came this month. I requested a moving quote from NorthStar via Yelp, and Alice K. from their Southern California headquarters messaged me back in less than 5 minutes, maybe it was 2 minutes, fast!
Alma Lopez, who works on the Client Loyalty Team under Alice, called me about 10 minutes later to ask about all my move details. She sent a complete proposal about 10 minutes later. It was a good proposal and roughly the same as other moving company rates Yelp sent my inquiry to without my asking (Geez, I wish Yelp wouldn’t do that).
Alma was very courteous with the many questions I had during our several phone conversations. I agreed to their proposal and confirmed my move with NorthStar.
The day before my move (yesterday), Jason Gonzales, the Operations Manager, called to confirm all my details and review the costs for the various extra things I needed; such as moving belongings from 2 separate storage lockers, with one accessible only by elevator, and then picking up more items at another site.
Then, this morning, the day of my move, both Jason and the lead mover, Edgar, called to coordinate my ETA to the storage facility. Edgar and his crew of 3 men were early, waiting, and ready to work.
These young men all had wonderful attitudes, were very friendly, and super hard working. I had a 26′ truck to fill up with some very heavy furniture and Edgar, Isael, Carlos, and Rodolfo efficiently and carefully made that happen.
They did not do a lot of talking between them, because it seemed they each knew exactly what to do and knew the role each was to perform. I was quite impressed with that.
Watching them work made me envision images of Aztec and Mayan warriors . . . strong, proud, and on task.
My move went as well as I had hoped it would. It was emotion free (this time) and made almost effortless for me by Alma, Jason, Edgar, Isael, Carlos, and Rodolfo.
I felt Jason was extraordinarily generous in keeping my costs down even with some of the extras I requested. Thank you, Jason!
And, I can’t thank Edgar and crew enough for their thoughtful interactions with me and literally worrying if I was happy with their work. These young men are honorable and sensitive while getting the job done.

Had three guys move me out of my one bedroom/studio into a three story townhouse. They were incredibly careful and thoughtful with all of our things and worked hard. The new unit had three stories and no elevator, which isn’t a cakewalk, and they had great attitudes the entire time. This is my second time using Northstar and I’d recommend them for anyone moving in the LA area. Great guys and made the process very stress free. They did a good job and I was glad to have them.
Great Team. 3 members came on-time for the move.. packed 2BHK and moved to 15 min drive within 3 hours. Very professional and fast.
These guys did a great job. When you’re moving you just hope they don’t break anything or lose anything. But these guys were courteous, clean, and professional…things you don’t always get with a move. Definitely will use NorthStar again. The costs came in as expected and they arrived when planned. All in all a GREAT move.
This was our 3rd move within the last two years and the first time using movers. We moved from a 2bed, 2 bath in the East Bay (with stairs) to a 2 bed duplex in Sacramento. Our window to start was 8am-10am. I got a call at 7am asking if they could come at 7:30. Absolutely! Cory, Christian, and Coco arrived. They did a walk through first to make sure they knew what we wanted. After that they got right to work. The majority of our items were already boxed and in the garage but we still had many larger items that needed wrapped. They were careful and made sure everything was protected before packing it. We got to Sacramento in record time and they began unpacking after walking through the new place and getting a feel for what we wanted. We had labeled most of the boxes and put labels around the house so it made it very easy for them. They barely stopped moving (except for an occasional water break) despite the ridiculous heat. Cory, Christian, and Coco made the day very easy and stress free. I’d definitely recommend them!!
Pedro and his team did a great job. They were reliable and professional. They got the job done quickly and efficiently. I appreciated all of their help and hard work.
This was by far my best moving experience ever. It was my first time getting a not-to-exceed price. The quoted price was less than we expected, and we thought we were being clever – our move was scheduled for the first week in August and we thought any crew would be dragging their feet because of the heat. Well, guess what? The actual total came out to several hundred dollars less than the estimate. The crew showed up on time, they were careful with our stuff and the paint, and they actually put the boxes in the right rooms based on the labels. We are very happy. Thank you!
Edgar and crew helped us move this weekend and they were great through the whole process. Pricing was comparable or a bit lower vs some others we talked to but they provided more people to help out. Pretty thorough throughout – laying down plastic sheets in the new house to keep the carpet clean and such.
Moving can be extremely stressful, but not with Logan and his crew ( Eddie and Ron)! First thing Logan told me to do was rest and rage it easy since they had this covered. What a great way to reduce the stress. I started cleaning, while they were moving and then as I watched them pack up I thought, ” I should take his advice”, Bc my hard work starts after they leave. The crew was extremely thoughtful of my furniture and personal items. They were professional, polite and a pleasure to be around. These guys work so hard and deserve the positive recognition. Now only if I could convince them to stay and unpack. 🙂 thank you crew!

They showed up within their projected timeframe AND gave me a call to let me know they were going to arrive at 9:15 prior to arriving RIGHT on time.
The entire team was absolutely diligent, trustworthy, so polite and sweet. Most importantly, they were impeccable movers. Not a single thing broken or scratched or scuffed. I’m thoroughly impressed!
I have an enormous sofa that has historically been impossible to get through doors and has caused other moving teams (I’ve moved 3 times over the past 3 years) to get aggravated- not this team. They kept their cool and effectively problem-solved.
Seamless, quick and, overall, the best move I’ve ever experienced. I’d recommend NorthStar to anyone and everyone (request Logan and his team if you can!).
I’ve used Northstar about 4 times so far. This time was no different than the others. They arrived on time, worked fast and got me to my new place without any trouble. Prices are reasonable and the staff is always nice… To me anyway. I’ve also never had any broken items, thankfully. They really bust their ass to get you where you need to go. The dudes even unpacked my boxes so that I didn’t received any charges for them. I highly recommend them.
