The Hunger Fighting Hero is awarded by Move for Hunger to organizations that host a successful event to fight hunger in their area. NorthStar Moving’s seventh annual “Let’s Send Hunger Packing” summer food drive raised food and monetary donations to provide 33,924 meals to feed hungry children in Los Angeles County. Over seven years, the drive has raised a total of approximately 134,124 meals.

Laura McHolm, NorthStar Moving’s Co-Founder and Director of Marketing received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Women’s Council & Awards on June 20, 2019 in Los Angeles. It was a half day event full of inspiration and education. Business women in Los Angeles shared their wisdom through a series of dynamic panels followed by a luncheon awards program honoring outstanding achievements by the top business women who make a difference throughout Los Angeles.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award is given to women who started or operate a business of their own while simultaneously impacting their community for the better. Laura McHolm was chosen as an honoree for changing the dim views consumers once held of the moving industry, while contributing time, services and financial support to charitable and social conscious organizations.
World Refugees Day Award
2019 ★ Award, Miry's List
Miry’s List, a nonprofit organization serving over 300 families who have recently resettled in America as refugees from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq, honored NorthStar Moving Co-Founder Laura McHolm with their Ana Huna “Least We Can Do” Award during their 2019 World Refugees Day Awards. Miry’s List Founder & Executive Director Miry Whitehill said that “We are awarding Ms. McHolm and her entire team at NorthStar Moving as they have been an integral part in settling these families into their new homes in this country. NorthStar Moving stores donated essential household items for us and then delivers them to the apartments of the resettling families. Our new arrival refugee families feel welcome, safe and a sense of belonging. Ms. McHolm and NorthStar Moving are demonstrating to the entire country how private companies can make a tangible impact on families resettling here. It’s inspiring and deserves to be celebrated.”

Hunger Fighting Hero Award

The Hunger Fighting Hero is awarded to organizations that host a successful event to fight hunger in their area. NorthStar Moving’s second annual “Let’s Send Hunger Packing” food drive in partnership with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage raised 8,109 pounds of food to feed hungry children in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. The overwhelming volume of food collected and the awareness the company raised for hunger earned NorthStar Moving the award.
