Sadly summer is wrapping up, and it’s back to books. But many are about to embark on the very thrilling and memorable transition from home to college.

A dorm room is probably the most difficult space to organize and make it feel like yours. But, having a clean homework space and having a place to relax that feels like home is all very important to your success at school. So here’s how to make that little space feel like home only without all the clutter. It’s as easy as spelling D-O-R-M R-O-O-M.

Moving doesn’t have to be a dog-gone cat-astrophy. The good news is that with a paw-ful of wise tips you can ease their trauma. Here are ten tricks that have been approved by Dr. Sara Sheltren, veterinarian at the East Padden Animal Hospital, in Vancouver, Washington to keep Fluffy and Fido cared for during the moving process:
1. Before Moving Day: Become familiar with pet rules and regulations. Landlords and homeowners’ associations may have specific pet rules. Become familiar with your new area’s leash laws, pet ordinances and/or pet licensing requirements. Your pet may need additional vaccinations, medications or certain certificates depending on where you are moving. A call to the local animal control facility should answer your questions.
Road Trip! Remember the days when the whole family piled into the station wagon for a summer road trip with a few bags, a cooler and some Mad Libs? There were singalongs, license plate games and simply family time together. Those are some of my fondest memories. Think that simple life is impossible with all of the gizmos we have today? Think again! With some packing knowledge and creativity, you can still create those memories for your kids tech-free.
May is National Moving Month. Nearly 40 million of us move in the summer and begin planning our moves in May.

Have you dreamed of moving to a city on the other side of the country, or simply somewhere warmer or with a cheaper cost of living? While these reasons are not the top three reasons people move, they are common desires and driving factors in where Americans move to and why we pick up and leave a city.

In David Letterman fashion, my team at NorthStar Moving recently compiled the “Top Ten Cities Americans Move To” and “Top Ten Cities Americans Move From.” The city with the biggest revolving door is the capital of our great nation, taking the #1 spot in both lists. In fact, many of the cities make both lists, with the states of California and Texas with the most cities on the lists. Check out the two lists illustrated in our infographic below to see if your city makes the cut, good or bad!
