12th Annual Let’s Send Hunger Packing Food Drive Launches to Feed Hungry Children in LA County

Los Angeles, CA, June 03, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —  NorthStar Moving® Company, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, announced today the launch of their 12th Annual Let’s Send Hunger Packing Food Drive.

Los Angeles County is home to more food-insecure children than any other county in the U.S. To help address this dire situation, NorthStar Moving has once again teamed up with Compass Real Estate to raise much-needed funds for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to feed hungry children in LA County this summer.

“Nutrition insecurity is a heartbreaking reality in Los Angeles County, where more children face food insecurity than anywhere else in the nation,” said President and CEO of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Michael Flood. “We are grateful for NorthStar Moving’s continued support through their Let’s Send Hunger Packing Food Drive, which helps us in our fight against hunger.”

In California, 2 million children live in low-income households affected by hunger. For some children, the only meal they receive is at school. Many families turn to food banks for assistance when school is out for the summer. However, food banks can experience a decline in donations during the summer months.

“Over the last 11 years, our award-winning Let’s Send Hunger Packing Food Drive has provided 742,036 meals on our children’s tables,” said NorthStar Moving Co-Founder Laura McHolm. “While that fills my heart, my heart is also broken. The surge in inflation continues to escalate the rate of hunger in our backyard. Instead of clicking for your take-out tonight, please click the donate button on our food drive instead. For the price of your $25 take-out, you can provide 100 meals! If we all donate, we can make a real difference in the lives of families that are working hard to feed their children. Virtual food drives like ours allow the LA Regional Food Bank to serve an average of 900,000 people every month. Please join us in helping the LA Regional Food Bank feed kids this summer!

The 12th Annual Let’s Send Hunger Packing Food Drive is completely online and runs through July 1, 2024. Please make a monetary online donation today HERE.

All donations will directly assist the needs of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Los Angeles, CA, Aug. 21, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NorthStar Moving®, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, today announced that it was named one of the “Best Places to Work” in greater Los Angeles for the eighth consecutive year. This annual program was created by the Los Angeles Business Journal and Best Companies Group.

The survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in Los Angeles, benefiting the county’s economy, workforce and businesses. After businesses from across Los Angeles County are surveyed, the list is narrowed down to 100 companies. NorthStar Moving ranked an impressive #38 in the best medium sized company category.

Companies from across the county entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Los Angeles. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Los Angeles, analyzed the data and determined the final rankings.

“This achievement just keeps getting better and better each year,” said NorthStar Moving Co-Founder and CEO Ram Katalan. “As I have said in years past, creating a place where people love to come to work everyday is our greatest accomplishment. Knowing our own team members continue to rate their employee experience so well gives me a lot of pride. We know that happy team members create a happy and satisfying client experience.”

NorthStar Moving continually seeks fun new ways to motivate its employees. From flexible work schedules and work at home options, gym and showers in the office, allowing dogs to come to work, Friday company lunches, bowling and pizza parties, backyard BBQs, to a company sponsored soccer team that competes in a local community league, there is no shortage of fun and team building. NorthStar Moving team members also love the fact that they can feel great about the quality of work they do for their clients and the community. The company pays their team members to volunteer in the community and just completed a very successful fifth annual summer food drive in partnership with Coldwell Banker. NorthStar Moving team members value the difference that NorthStar Moving is making in the community from its green practices to strong involvement in many charitable events throughout the year.

The rankings are published in the August 21, 2017 issue of the Los Angeles Business Journal. For more information on the Best Places to Work in Los Angeles program, visit www.BestPlacestoWorkLA.com.

California’s premier eco-luxury, full service moving company sends hunger packing; donate food today at area Bristol Farms stores

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–NorthStar Moving Corporation, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, has teamed up with Move for Hunger, a non-profit organization working with moving companies across the country to deliver food to local food banks, to launch the first annual “Holiday Food Drive: Let’s Send Hunger Packing!” in Los Angeles County to aid in feeding children and their families. The food drive kicks-off today at four Bristol Farms store locations across Los Angeles County and ends December 16, 2011.

More than 1.7 million in LA County are at risk of hunger every day, including 400,000 children. And, with unemployment remaining at 12 percent in LA County, the need for aid continues to increase, especially during this holiday season. By donating one food item during your holiday food shop you will be helping a family in need serve a warm meal on their holiday table.

“We are asking everyone to please join us in sending hunger packing! 400,000 children right here in Los Angeles County need our help,” said NorthStar Moving Corporation Co-Founder Laura McHolm. “We’ve moved the food drive right into the grocery stores to make giving to those children and their families simple. We are happy to put our moving trucks to critical use, delivering the food to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Move for Hunger and Bristol Farms have been absolutely wonderful partners helping us lift this vision off the ground. Our constant mission is to move happiness home and today that is taking on the ultimate meaning as we move food to keep families fed. We need everyone to fill our trucks with food donations! We’ll keep the fleet delivering food as long as necessary.”

The participating Bristol Farms locations include Beverly West, Hollywood, Manhattan Beach and Westwood; all have generously agreed to donate space in each store for the collection bins. Bristol Farms customers will be provided with a list of the most-needed non-perishable food items. NorthStar Moving will then transport all of the donated items to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Donations can also be dropped off at NorthStar Moving’s headquarters in Chatsworth, California, as well as online.

“We are so honored to be part of such a great effort put forth by NorthStar Moving for the Los Angeles community,” said Executive Director of Move for Hunger Adam Lowy. “The generous donations made by Bristol Farms’ customers will truly make a difference for the countless families desperate for help this time of year.”

NorthStar Moving has partnered with Move for Hunger for the past year, sharing the same passion for helping to improve the lives of those less fortunate. NorthStar Moving also works with the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation, the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles, Global Green and Habitat for Humanity.

California’s eco-luxury moving company recognized for outstanding green initiatives by the California Apartment Association of Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–NorthStar Moving Corporation, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, today announced that it was awarded the Signature Award for Best Use of Green Practices by the California Apartment Association of Los Angeles (CAA-LA), honoring outstanding apartment communities and industry partners in Los Angeles County. NorthStar Moving was chosen for their unique eco-luxury moving and storage services and green corporate practices, providing a bright green solution for households on the move.

“From responsible recycling, biodiesel moving trucks, eco-friendly storage, and energy efficient warehouses and offices, NorthStar Moving ensures that a move is green from beginning to end,” said CAA Los Angeles Executive Director Ryan Minniear. “Our panel of judges chose NorthStar Moving as our green award winner not only based on the company’s commitment to green, but also its unrivaled experience in the industry.”

NorthStar Moving has redefined the moving industry as the first to offer eco-luxury moving services, elevating basic moving and storage services to a new unparalleled level of customized care and environmental consciousness. The company’s green initiatives include moving trucks that run on bio-diesel fuel (a much cleaner alternative to regular diesel fuel), boxes made of 100% recyclable materials, biodegradable bubble wrap, discounts for clients that re-use and return boxes after the unpacking and organizing has been completed. Additionally, the company incorporates green features in their facilities such as skylights and extra windows in its warehouses and offices to provide natural light sources and eliminate unnecessary electrical use. Rather than countless rows of metal boxes and endless rows of asphalt driveways, the company uses recycled wooden vaults for their storage compartments that would have otherwise been discarded. NorthStar Moving also partners with E-Cycle Environmental, a service that domestically recycles computers, televisions, batteries and a plethora of other electronic and large bulky items that are often discarded during the moving and organizing process. Domestic recycling is key to making sure that materials are actually in fact recycled and not just dumped in third world countries to become toxic landfill.

“Being green is at the heart of our company. Our trucks may be red on the outside, but we are green on the inside,” said Laura McHolm, co-founder and marketing director of NorthStar Moving Corporation. “We are thrilled and honored to be recognized by the California Apartment Association of Los Angeles for all of our work to maintain an environmentally-sound method of business. Each and every day we work closely with our clients to green their moves and conduct every aspect of our business as environmentally-conscious as possible, and now we are proud to be known for it. We continually strive to be greener and welcome comments from the public on how we can be even greener.”

In addition to receiving the Signature Award for Best Use of Green Practices, NorthStar Moving’s green initiatives have sparked the interest of various charitable and socially conscious organizations who share the company’s vision of keeping the planet healthy and beautiful. NorthStar Moving assists Global Green with their pre-Oscar parties and works with the Hollywood Green Team which advises organizations on how to be greener. The company welcomes new partnership opportunities and donates to non-profits to aide the green cause.
