Used this Company for a move from West L.A. to Marina Del Rey. Rep came out, gave a not to exceed quote for a full service move including packing, all materials and transport. Expensive way to go, but, with my schedule it was worth it to me to not have any surprises and to have all the work done for me.
Movers showed up on time, did an outstanding job taking great care of my belongings. Contents of an entire two bedroom apartment moved into my new condo without so much as a broken glass. Everything was wrapped and packed professionally.
These guys made an annoying, stressful proposition very smooth and easy. I would not hesitate to recommend them..
Local Move
We’ve used NorthStar twice this month. One was a move for my sister from Long Beach to Sherman Oaks. The other was my move from Long Beach to San Pedro. We received estimates for both moves from other moving companies as well as NorthStar. We were explained the double drive time law BY ALL THE COMPANIES – this is not a unique charge with NorthStar. We were also explained the extra charge for packing materials BY ALL THE COMPANIES. Again, this was not unique to NorthStar. Their estimate fell in the middle of 3 moving companies. But because NorthStar was highly recommended by a friend who moves frequently and has a lot of delicate equipment, we chose them.
For both moves, the movers arrived early, were professional and worked hard. They were careful with our possessions, wrapped/protected everything, and moved everything where I needed it to go. My sister’s move was a smaller move (small 2 bedroom house). When we scheduled the move, Ron recommended optional move dates to reduce our cost (less demand and less traffic). They were right on. They arrived at 8 am and had her moved in by noon. Amazing!
For our move (large 3 bedroom house), they arrived at 7:30 and had us moved in by 3 pm. For this move they went $300 over the estimate in time/supplies. But they DID NOT CHARGE US for more than the estimate amount! Most companies would flag you that they were going over estimate or just let you know in the end, but the guys kept working and in the end charged us for what was initially estimated.
They contact you to confirm your move and then follow up to make sure it went ok. They really do care about their business and customer satisfaction. Some reviewers complain about them being more expensive but they’re worth every penny! I’ve moved at least 15 times over the past 20 years and they are by far the best moving company I’ve ever used. I would highly recommend them to family and friends.
These guys were phenomenal. This was the first time I have ever hired anyone to help me move, and they made the process easy. Everything was clearly explained to me on the telephone when I reserved the service, and then they were diligent in following to confirm my appointment beforehand. The 3-man crew showed up on time and got straight to work. They wrapped my furniture meticulously, and were careful to show me any pre-existing damage before touching anything. Although I underestimated the time it would take to move my stuff (which I had carefully packed & organized), they moved quickly and efficiently. And the whole time, they were courteous and polite, asking permission before using the restroom or anything. They also did a fabulous job placing my furniture exactly where I wanted it in the new space.
So it goes without saying that I highly recommend them and will absolutely use them again the next time I have to move.

Elmer, Jose and Agustin arrived right on time for my move! They worked carefully and efficiently to load all of my personal belongings from a storage unit to their truck – in under and hour – WOW!
When we arrived at my new apartment, I realized that the storage unit I rented at the complex was not going to be big enough to handle my “stuff” overflow…Elmer, Jose and Agustin were extremely patient as I tried to figure out on the fly which items should be in the house versus the apartment….even with all of MY confusion – they stayed calm and patient with me – THANK YOU!
This team of movers completed my move in only 3 hours and 45 mintues…without damaging anything! The last mover I hired damaged my fridge and amoire and it took them 7.5 hours to complete the same move!

I have moved 5 times in the last 5 years and NorthStar ranks as the best moving company I have used. From estimating to working with my schedule at short notice and the actual move they were excellent. Ron Cohen helped make me comfortable that I wouldn’t be charged more than the estimate and the packers and movers did a great job fast. I found the company on Yelp and will never use anyone else again. They moved me from Woodland Hills to West Hills and I ended up paying them slightly less than the estimate – can you believe that! Great work guys and highly recommended.
I found this company on Yelp and they were great from the beginning, i scheduled for the move on the phone and the lady suggest that one of their rep. To come to our apartment and make a quote that the price will not exceed, which is good not to be surprised at the end of moving day!! The guy came on time his name is Ron and gave us several quotes depending on the work, we choose one.
On the moving day 4 movers came on time they were very professional They wrapped and packed every thing in very short time! Very impressive! Also the unpacking was great, they did almost everything but the kitchen stuff,, and the end the price was less than we expected which made us very happy..

North Star was fantastic, they took care of my furniture perfectly! They made my moving experience a great one, and I look forward to using them in the future. Staff was very helpful and continued to check up and see how everything went. Great company, certainly would recommend them to anyone who is thinking of moving and moving without all the hassle and trouble that comes with it. They are a bit pricey and sometimes there are some extra fees they put on, but they do tell you about them in advance though (even if you don’t really agree about how things are charged)
I literally just got done using them today.. It was a trip from Sherman Oaks to Manhattan Beach.. I have never used a moving company before, however this time I have much more stuff that needed better handling then myself and some friends, so I turned to yelp to find a company that had some great reviews and also had a decent price.
North Star blew me away.. First of all, they were professional from the beginning.. But don’t fill in the Quick Quote, it just seemed like a waste of time; just have them come to your place to scope it out. They showed up for the appointment on time and they were really good and gave me a good deal for 3 guys at $115/hour. I needed some kind of guarantee because I didn’t want to pay hourly for the 405 if there was an accident. To my luck, there wasn’t.
I boxed up what I could, and the guys showed up early, ready to go.. They immediately started working, non stop, the paperwork was filled out and simple; and if there was a mark on the furniture, they brought it to my attention so I was aware, which I was impressed.
Once everything was loaded up, I met them in Manhattan Beach at my house. It was definitely a challenge because they had to carry my 65″ TV up a long flight of stairs along with other valuable furniture; but everything was handled great.
Javier was the lead guy and was extremely friendly and helpful. The guys worked really fast and they were even under my original quote! I gave them a nice tip for their hard work.
I highly recommend this company and I will use them again. The only downside I would say, is that they originally told me they didn’t have insurance and I was to use a third party; but then when I filled out the paperwork, they had some kind of included insurance. Luckily I forgot about the third party insurance and so I wasn’t mad about it.

Our second moving experience with NorthStar in two years. Staff members are friendly, flexible, competent and efficient – a pleasure to deal with. Pre-move, the flow of information is very helpful. Highly recommended!
