NorthStar was incredible. They made our move as painless as possible. They were careful at both our apartment and our new home. My husband and I could not get over how FAST they were! Our move ended up costing us half of what we expected. From now on, we will always move with NorthStar.
Timely, professional, worked with me on the price. Nothing was damaged during the move. They were so great I used them twice and both times I had excellent customer service. Thanks NorthStar!!!
I did a lot of research before I went with NorthStar, and I’m so pleased that I found reliable movers that were actually reasonably priced. They just helped me move from LA to San Diego, and it could not have gone more smoothly. The two guys (Ezequiel and Erwin, I believe) were very friendly, professional, and speedy yet careful. They were right on time, and took *really* great care of all of my furniture + a couple very large mirrors. I had packed all the boxes myself, and they wrapped everything else so it would be protected well. Not a single thing was broken or even slightly damaged 🙂 They worked so quickly and efficiently that (along with the great Yelp coupon) the whole move ended up costing less than I had anticipated – which is always a nice surprise! I would recommend this moving company, for sure.
Had a short move from West Hollywood to Culver City. We shopped around, asked friends for suggestions and came upon NorthStar Moving through one of those suggestions. Their receptionist was very polite and explained everything I needed to know before the move. She even notified me about the deal on Yelp, which was more than I was expecting. Our movers came early and gave us a 25-30 minute notice, which made it easier for us to get everything out of their way in time. They were very friendly and got everything done very fast! Nothing broke except a poorly taped box with too many books in it. (None of the books were damaged and totally our fault.) I would definitely use NorthStar again, but I think we’re planning to stay in our new place for a while. 🙂
I’ve moved several times in my life, and I’ve always done it myself with the help of family and/or friends. But I have come to the point where I don’t want to do it myself, and I hate asking my family or friends for help. So I finally hired movers, and I couldn’t be happier with the movers we picked.
My boyfriend and I moved from an apartment in Brentwood to one in Walnut Creek. We don’t have much stuff, which made it all even easier, I imagine. The whole process was beyond simple. The communication beforehand was great, and the three guys we had were awesome. They showed up on time, and moved our stuff out faster than I could pack it. I was just throwing stuff in boxes and taping them shut for them to take. They had everything loaded in less than an hour. And they unloaded at our new place even faster. AND when my boyfriend realized WE had built our TV stand wrong, one of the guys helped us fix it before they left.
Though my boyfriend and I have decided we’re retiring from moving because it sucks, if we ever move again, we would definitely go with NorthStar. No doubt.
Can highly recommend them from first move with NorthStar Moving Corporation, which did a fantastic job. From phone receptionist to estimator to movers, everyone was very polite, friendly and professional. No razzmatazz or mover gimmicks, just plain solid dependable moving company. This was a short move about 3 miles away, from Mar Vista to Venice.

Estimates and contracts were clear and efficient (emailed). They arrived early allowing us an extra 10 minutes to review the documents. Their estimate was less than what Meathead Movers quoted me, although NorthStar’s estimate on my volume and truck space needed was nearly double the other. (Always read the backside fine print of any moving contact very carefully!)

No money down, easy cancelation policy, and payment by VISA after unloading accepted.

But be ready when the come! The gung-ho movers jumped right in while I was still packing the last boxes, and things started to move faster than I had control over about what went with them and what went with me. However, it was satisfying–if not surprising– to see the wall of boxes it took me weeks to create dismantled and out in minutes.  4 moving men for about 70 boxes, 1000 square ft. 2BR was just right to finish just under 6 hours.

Of course  the very minimum of 1 slightly scraped piece of furniture and a couple scuffs on the wall were normal enough to be expected. (I did acquire additional insurance because I have antique pieces I didn’t want covered standard by the pound.)

The extra wardrobe boxes they brought at no additional charge really help for the last of the clothing and last minute, odd-sized ‘stuff’. I regret that they did charged me an extra $11 for one of their dish pack boxes to pad-pack a leaded glass window, when I had my own large unused cartons laying around they could have used. But no complaints.

The greatest joy of all, was to learn that ‘by chance’ all four of my moving men were faith-filled believing Christians–one who had just gotten saved that morning. Which allowed us to take take when all was said and done to pray for and bless one another.

Great way to start a new home! Hunt around, compare and give NorthStar a try!
A friend recommended them. I moved from So Cal to North Cal. Perfect all I can say. At pickup did amazing job packing all my stuff. I requested extra packing for my beds as they are expensive and they did it. Stuff reached between the time window they gave. John and Daniel did perfect job to unpack and assemble stuff. I would use them again even for local move and will not hesitate to recommend for cross country move. Great job done ! Thanks Northstar
I should take off 1/10 of a star because they neglected to mention anything about Yelp coupons. Ha ha! I’m kidding! This was our second move with Northstar and just like the last one, it went beautifully. Moving is very tiring. Even when you’re mostly watching the movers do the work! We had a lot of stuff and it was a long day, but they worked their behinds off. They only took one break. And they DID ask which room each box was supposed to go in. Their supervisor and another mover even went so far as to attempt to help me remove the wheels from my mom’s fridge so we could get it to fit. They weren’t successful, but it wasn’t part of the deal anyway. The next day we did find a broken leg on one of our sofas, but they actually sent a furniture repair guy out to repair it! This saved me from having to wait for insurance, and then having to find a furniture repair person. At this point I would never even consider any other company. Their business philosophy is like from the 1950’s. You just don’t see this anymore!
I have used them twice now for moves in the last 2 years. Most recently we moved from Culver City area to Downtown LA. Showed up on the early side of the window and got going right away. Had 3 guys, 1 truck for $105/hour. Filled out the info form online and got a call about 5 minutes later. They actually told me about making an appt at our new place for the move in (I had no idea I needed one!) Thank god they told me, b/c I did, and North Star was a “preferred moving company” by our building so I didn’t have to mess w/ any of the insurance stuff. After not having mentioned it before the morning of the move, they even accommodated making a stop at a local Goodwill to drop of donation furniture. I was going to purchase the coupon offered here but was also glad that even if I did not know about it, I was told to purchase it when I set up the appointment. Nice to know they offer it even if you might now have know. Overall, took about 6 hours from first box out to last box in and I couldn’t be happier with the whole process. Will definitely use again in the future!
basically a 3hr job done in half the time, thanks to 3 guys moving stuff from a 1bd downstairs unit to an upstairs unit across the way. but honestly, i think i’m just overexcited at giving 5stars because literally 3min before they arrived (on time), this huuuuge roar of thunder and dark clouds came rolling in and i thought ‘oh crap’… they moved the flat screen tv first. nuff said.
