Outstanding moving company, I couldn’t possibly ask for much better.

I was moving from Palmdale to Thousand Oaks, and they were extremely prompt and professional. They didn’t waste any time getting to my old place and moving, just so they could add money on to the cost of the move. They turned a very stressful experience into a comforting one, and gave me peace of mind that my things would make it to my new residence all in one piece. If you’re looking for a courteous, professional mover, look no further than NorthStar. Not enough good can be said about them.

Also, mention that you found them on yelp. I got a 10% off coupon for the move, and all I had to do was say that I found them here. The salesman that I spoke with actually called me back to ask where I heard of them so that I could get this discount. You won’t regret choosing them.
These guys were great!! We moved on probably the hottest day of the year this summer and they busted their behinds to get it done quickly yet carefully. The guys arrived on time, were very pleasant, worked very hard, and completed the job several hundred dollars below my “will not exceed price” that was quoted. It was a major job with 4 guys and 2 trucks and everything went smooth. I would not hesitate to call them again if/when I move again…great job guys, THANKS!

Very reasonably priced and responsible about calling prior to arriving. I appreciated knowing exactly what I was paying for and when I needed to plan to be home.

The movers were also so nice and good natured. They helped me disassemble and move an old bed out of my apt. before unloading the stuff in the moving truck into the new place – no questions asked.
I hired North Star to move my 4 bedroom house from Redondo to Newprt.  I have a lot of heavy stuff and stairs so I requested 5 guys and two 26ft trucks.  Joel (the foreman) and his team did an AMAZING job!!!  These guys showed up at 7:30am and did not slow down until the work was finished.  They worked so hard and so fast that they beat the “not to exceed price” by $400 and still showed extreme care with my stuff.  All the guys were friendly and curtious and I could not have been more pleased.  Ilan came to my house for the estimate and he was great to work with as well.  I got 4 quotes before settling on North Star and Ilan was patient and flexible with me.  All promises he made regarding price, time, etc were exceeded on moving day.  I have to say one more time that the service performed was beyond my expectations and I was charged $400 less than what I agreed to with the initial quote!  These guys are legit and there is no way I would even look at another company for my next move.
I was skeptical at first after looking at all good ratings about Northstar movers, but wanted to get a quote atleast. My husband actually dealt with them to the most part. He called them and got a quote based on hourly charge for a local move. They explained everything very clearly, no loopholes. The price is reasonable compared to the other quotes we got, so we went ahead with them.

We were moving from Los Angeles to Camarillo. though it is a local move, we had to pack everything perfectly. Most of our stuff is packed by the time the movers arrived. All the large items like sofa, bed etc were taken care by the movers. They loaded everything in 45 minutes (my previous aptmt is on the second floor). We grabbed some of our valuables and started to the new place after like 20 minutes the truck left. Obviously the truck reached first (luckily no traffic that day! on 405 & 101). When we reached our new place, I am very much surprised to see that they have already kept a lot of our items in the front porch of our unit. I was thinking that they will start unloading the items when we reach there.

They are extrmely fast, honest and very respectful. They haven’t charged me a penny more. The whole process took 3.5 hours(including their return time). After they left, I was still thinking is the move already over? It was like a cake walk.  I will definitely use NorthStar for my future moves and recommend them to near & dear.
The honor of being my 200th Yelp review goes to NorthStar Moving Corp.

NorthStar aided and abetted my escape from suburbia and moved my ridiculously large TV, library of books, and outrageously heavy furniture to Pasadena in 5 hours flat. Seriously? How is that possible? It is possible because the three lovely, hard-working, pleasant and professional gentlemen from NorthStar were amazing. They arrived in suburbia on time, busted their butts loading the truck, drove to Pasadena and busted their butts again moving my stuff up to my new home on the 4th floor. All of my possessions were treated with care. All of my furniture, including my precious behemoth TV were wrapped carefully with blankets, tape and cellophane and all of my possessions arrived at their destination in 100% perfect condition. They put all the items exactly where they belonged and even repositioned an entire room full of furniture after we realized our original design vision was not going to work out…and this did indeed involve the ridiculously large (and freakin’ heavy) TV.

I have moved many times and this is hands down the best experience I have ever had with a moving company. Oh and bonus, just when we didn’t think it could get any better…we also got a 5% discount because we mentioned Yelp. Thanks NorthStar for making my move a fantastic and effortless experience!!!
I used NorthStar moving when I was moving for Los Angeles to Austin. I needed a full service mover who would also provide storage until I find a place in Austin. I shortlisted a few moving companies that I found on the internet and requested them for a quote. I chose NorthStar because they agreed to come to my house and do a proper estimate and also because had great reviews on Yelp. Moving itself is a taxing activity and choosing a moving company isn’t a piece of cake either. If you just want to take my word then you can definitely entrust Northstar with the job of moving your belongings
The manager at Northstar came to my house for the estimation. He was on time and the estimate given was on the higher side.  We set a date and time for the move. Two days prior to the moving date I had to reschedule and move the date ahead by a day. The people at Northstar were very accommodating and they obliged. On the day of the move the movers arrived on time. The movers handled all our furniture and boxes very professionally. The worked with care and in a timely manner. None of the items were damaged in the process. The day after this I received a call from Northstar with the final moving charge and this amount was about 300$ less than the estimate.

Once I reached Austin and a place, about 10 days after moving, I informed Northstar with the destination address. I was told the items would arrive in 5-7 days. However, they arrived in 4 days.  A day prior to the arrival I was informed of the time of arrival. The items arrived on time. The moving assembled the furniture as required and it did not take them long.  None of the items were damaged except for one my mountain bikes had a bent spoke,  but I wouldn’t care too much about it.

Overall I am very happy with the way the move was handled and would highly recommend using them.
Richard and his crew arrived promptly and worked very hard. They were careful with our furnishings. They provided wardrobes which made our move a lot easier. The price was very reasonable.
NorthStar just completed a move for us and it was an excellent experience. My daughter was moving across the country to go to grad school, so she took an apartment full of furniture (sofa, bedroom set, desk, bookcases, dining room), plus over 40 boxes (kitchen stuff, books, cleaning supplies, food staples, appliances and framed artwork).

It was a substantial move and I approached it with more than a little anxiety. I did research on moving companies and found that the reported problems were frightening (damage, shipments held hostage, etc.). I put the move out to bid and found NorthStar was not the lowest but was very competitive and had by far the best reviews and recommendations, and as I worked with them, I saw that they earned their excellent reviews, from start to finish. Here’s our experience:

Estimated Cost: They gave me an estimate, based on the inventory I provided them, with easy to understand calculation of their pricing. Everything is based on weight, not the number of boxes or the amount of time it takes to load or unload, which was different from the local moves I’d done in the past. This meant that the cost was very reasonable, even for a 3,000 mile move.  Samantha was our rep and she was very helpful in explaining everything, so no surprises.

Pick-Up: Erik, Melvin and two others (apologies for not getting the names) did an amazing job of wrapping furniture and loading everything and were extremely friendly and helpful. I was a careful packer but had them pack a lamp in their special boxes and was glad I did. I also purchased a dozen blankets in advance, which saved some money and they used all of them plus a few of theirs. The cost for their packing materials was less than I could get on my own. They did a careful inventory and then gave me an updated estimate.

Actual Cost: After the shipment was picked up, it was weighed, item by item, to get an actual cost. We ended up shipping significantly more than originally anticipated (not uncommon) our revised bid reflected that. Our final cost was actually less than the revised bid. Happy surprise.

Move Updates: We signed a contract based on an actual pick-up date and a window for delivery. I was nervous not knowing the actual delivery date, but Illyas, our dispatcher, provided ongoing updates and we were able to plan accordingly. We got preliminary schedule after the shipment was weighed, along the route, 24 hours in advance and 1 hour in advance.  We were so grateful they got everything there within the delivery window, before my daughter started classes.

Delivery: The two people who delivered could not have been nicer. They placed furniture, assembling the bedroom set, attaching the mirror to the dresser, etc., and placed the TV and printer where they needed to go, which would have been hard for my daughter to do on her own. All boxes marked fragile were in perfect shape. Boxes not marked fragile were treated a little more roughly, but everything arrived in good shape and all boxes were intact.

Follow-Up: Both the day of delivery and after having a chance to unpack, NorthStar called to make sure everything was fine. We found a damaged lamp shade and they were great about compensating us for that (Ram was especially helpful). They have a form they emailed us and it was easy. Given the move (2,500 pounds over 3,000 miles), I was delighted that this was the only problem and they resolved it beautifully.

I wholeheartedly recommend NorthStar. It’s scary to move long distance and they made it as easy as possible.
