These guys are the best. We were searching around on yelp for moving companies and my fellow yelpers did not steer us wrong with NorthStar. NorthStar truly deserve much respect and praise.
We we’re moving from LA to the Bay Area. We called and got someone to come out to to give us an estimate within 2 days. Ilan was our point of contact and he truly is an exceptional customer service oriented professional. He is very courteous and respectful and represents NorthStar extremely capably.
We got $100 discount for mentioning yelp and he even beat his own estimate by $200 with a maximum price locked into his estimate.
Our apartment was not ready by the first of the month which exceeded their 30 day free storage policy and he gave us a weeks worth of storage for free. They normally don’t prorate storage so if you exceed the complimentary 30 days, then you would get charge for a full month which is about $150-$200.
On moving day 3 guys came and moved us out in 5 hours. The move was estimated to be 3-5 hours to pack and load their truck. Everyone was courteous, worked diligently, and most importantly handled our stuff with care and caution.
They have a delivery date range of typically 3-5 days as part of their standard delivery services which is more economical than a hard delivery date. The week of our move, I communicated with Ilan on Monday to see if there was any wiggle room to have our stuff delivered by Friday morning and he said he’d check with his boss/dispatcher and got back to me within 24 hours to confirm that indeed they can make the delivery happen on Friday morning. This is where I am very grateful for NorthStar’s follow through. If I could give extra stars here, they’d get another 3 stars. With two tiny ones, we we’re hoping to move in on a Friday morning so that we can spend the weekend getting settled instead of moving in Saturday or even yikes on Sunday.
Move in day went very smoothly. 3 gentleman and 1 lady showed up at 9 am sharp and moved us in in 2 hours including furniture set up and all. We had a tiny casualty, a clock was cracked. But it was a cheap clock and not a big deal for us.
Conclusion: This was the most stress and hassle free move ever for us. All thanks to NorthStar and Ilan. We would definitely recommend them and use them again ourselves.
PS a nice touch was that Ilan called us on Sunday just to check and see how things went. Keep up the amazing customer service NorthStar!

Absolutely fantastic moving service. They moved me three times and every move has exceeded my expectations. They are professional, efficient, hard-working, thorough and courteous. The price of the move has also always been under what they stated. I have also recommended NorthStar to my family and friends and they too have been extremely happy with their moving service. Hands down, they offer the best quality service and the best price, period.
We had a great experience with NorthStar, I recommend them wholeheartedly. Ron, the estimator, was quick and efficient – he was able to give me an accurate estimate just by a quick glance around our apartment. He was thorough and willing to answer all of our questions. The day of the move, the movers arrived 10 minutes before the scheduled time, which was a pleasant surprise. We had a three-man crew that moved our 2-bedroom apartment in record time. They were friendly, courteous, and took great care of all of our things. Nothing was damaged in the move, everything arrived in perfect condition. The move ended up costing a little less than the “not-to-exceed” price, which we were happy about. Will definitely use this company in our next move!
Northstar made this supposedly stressful event move an easy one for us. Super professional all the way from the estimate to the actual move. Ilan Dahan came to see us before the move, and explained what is going to happen and gave us ideas and tips. It all worked just like he said! The crew came on time and loaded our entire 5 bedroom house on 2 trucks. Always smiling, always explaining, always double checking that everything is packed and protected properly. The unloading was just as smooth as the loading and in no time we were moved and settled in our new home.

Was looking for a company to move the office from LA to AZ. They came in and packed everything in a matter of 5 hours or so. They took apart the desks and wrapped each section and labeled the boxes also.
Good customer service, always had an answer anytime I needed them.
Recommended if you are on a budget but don’t have the time to package everything.

I recently moved, and after examining all the options (one moving company staffed by ex-cons–SCARY, and one moving company staffed by musicians–EVEN SCARIER), we went with Northstar.
Overall, I was pretty pleased. On the plus side, they were faster and more efficient than the times I’ve gotten friends to move me. On the downside, I couldn’t pay Northstar in pizza.
Additionally, they showed up on time, got the work done, and were generally pleasant guys. They also broke down and reassembled my bed in like 30 seconds flat. Very impressive.
However, in reading the reviews, we didn’t get quite the level of service a lot of other people got. For example, everyone else seemed to get a consultation from some Moving Angel named Ron before their move. Ron made no such appearance at our place, yet we paid same rates.
There were also two scratches left on a bookcase, but it’s kind of a crappy IKEA bookcase, so I’m not too upset.
Overall, the move went well. We got the Yelp discount. We got moved. And we didn’t have to lift a finger. There were just a couple of small things that prevented a five star review.
I have used NorthStar Moving services for both business and my own personal moves to my great satisfaction. Gadi Avigzer is awesome and Managed all my moves thoroughly ensuring everything they packed was undamaged and loaded quickly. I will continue to use their services and highly recommend their services to anyone in need of a mover.

My husband and I moved a short distance within LA. we had our things mostly packed up, and hired NorthStar to move the furniture and all the heavy boxes of our non-precious items. This is the first time we’ve hired movers to help with a move, since I’m pregnant now and can’t help with the furniture, plus we moved memorial day weekend (on a saturday) and didn’t want to bother our friends. I’m so glad we did. Tony, Alejandro, and Carlos were great! They called around noon-ish to say they’d arrive around 1-1:30. they got here at 1:30 and pulled around to the back alley. They took a look at all the stuff we had packed up, and then started moving. Everything was out in ~1.25 hrs, including things I originally thought I would move myself, they just asked if I wanted this moved too, and I said, sure why not. They wrapped the furniture in plastic wrap, taped boxes that weren’t that secure, bubble-wrapped a glass lamp that I thought I would move but ended up letting them take over. I found the wardrobe boxes to be very useful, and I’m glad they re-use them. In the end they didn’t even charge us for the plastic wrap and tape, which I was expecting them to because there was a list of items and prices for non-reusable stuff, maybe they just didn’t use enough of it to warrant charging us. When we got to the new place they found their way to the back alley on their own and moved everything in very quickly. The box spring for our bed wouldn’t fit up the inside stairwell, but they managed to quickly figure out a safe and quick alternate way up that DIDN’T involve one of them standing out over the balcony and hoisting it over to the 3rd floor balcony (a suggestion that my husband and I mentioned, and they briefly entertained). They were done in 3.5 hrs, and nothing was broken or scratched. They were very careful, not even scuff marks on the newly painted walls. Worth every penny for a friendly, reliable, respectful, efficient, and strong moving crew. I have already recommended them to a friend who is moving in a few months. I would definitely hire them for my next move.

Out of the two experiences I’ve had with moving companies, both were positive. The first time around I moved for work so everything was covered by my employer. I didn’t have to pack, transport, unpack, or pay!
This time, I had to foot the bill myself since it wasn’t work-related, )=. Even so, I knew the move would be simple – from a storage unit in West LA to a loft in Downtown – but I had decided that I didn’t want to do it myself or draft friends since it was Memorial Day weekend.

– Everyone I dealt with at NorthStar was customer-oriented. I submitted a request for information on their website and was contacted by phone the next day by Ted – very thorough informing me of their processes. Gil, the estimator, met me at my storage unit and was pretty laid back and friendly. I spoke with Diana and Kat over the phone, who were both very nice. Ricardo and his moving crew were excellent too.
– If you meet with an on-site estimator, you receive a “not to exceed price”. The estimator takes inventory of what you need to move and builds the “not to exceed price” off of that. It is to the line item so you can see the detailed breakdown. To give some perspective, my storage unit was estimated at 264 ft^3 and 1848 pounds. My final price was about 15% less than the “not to exceed price”.
– The moving crew was fast, efficient, and took care of my belongings. It took the three man crew about one hour to load everything on the truck and about one and a half hours to unload. The thing that held them up the most were the elevators; otherwise, I’m sure it could have been even faster.

– As previous reviewers have mentioned, the moving arrival window is a bit wide and I didn’t get that window (12 to 6pm) until the day before.
– I received a call from the dispatch center around noon on my moving day telling me that the movers would arrive at my location between 1 and 2pm. Then, I receive another call around 1pm telling me that the movers would arrive between 3:30 and 4:30pm. The time difference surely made a difference in traffic on a Friday afternoon going east on the 10. That said, the drive didn’t take all that long – much shorter than I anticipated actually.
I feel comfortable recommending NorthStar to friends or family, and I will surely seek them out the next time I need to move!
I recently moved from LA to NYC and wanted to share the wonderful and stress free experience I had while using NorthStar Moving Corp. To begin, I was any stress I had was immediately alleviated when Ron Cohen came by two weeks before my move. He was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Before the move, I got a call 24 hours in advance confirming pick up time and another call before my stuff was delivered. As far as the move went; The moving crew arrived on time picking up my stuff in LA, was delivered in NY within 10 days, there were no damages, no hidden fees, and it was fairly priced. On a final note, it was an added touch when I received a call two days later from Ron, checking on how my move went. You can’t beat using NorthStar for a short or long move!
