This review is long over due. I used Northstar in 2021 and they were fantastic. So when I had to move again here in 2024, it was a no brainer to call them to take care of my move. Eileen was my relocation specialst this time around and was great. Super nice, professional, and so so helpful. Gave a great price both times and sent another amazing 3 man team.

NorthStar Moving Company….In one word….Impressive!! Let’s face it, we all know how moving is a hassle and how everything you have in your life needs to go in boxes. But these guys really stepped up to the plate. The crew that moved me was Alejandro, Ruben, and Jesus A+. I wasn’t completely ready for my move no matter how much I thought. I still needed some boxes packed, and these guys with a smile on their face and an attitude to match happily helped me finish the remaining boxes. My furniture and wood & glass cabinets were all wrapped with protective cloth. These guys handled everything with care and listened to my needs.
I really don’t want to move again and hope I don’t, but if that happens, I will 100% use NorthStar Moving Company again. So, if you’re moving, I suggest you use them as well. You will not be disappointed, the price was fair the service is exceptional the quality just all the way around it made moving a lot easier
The guys were so amazing! Came on time, super efficient wrapped everything well. They were able to finish packing my kitchen and bedroom up and move to my new house in 3 hours. Cannot recommend them enough. Doing that myself would’ve put me in months of therapy for real. Worth every dollar!
They did an amazing job with our move! We’ve moved a lot in the last 10 years and had horrible experiences with movers, so we were very anxious but John and his company really ensured that everything went smoothly. John came to our house and gave us an estimate based on our property, which was nice since it wasn’t time-based like most companies. At the end of the day, this was a much better deal too.
On the moving day we had Felipe, Noe, Jorge, and Juan. They worked so hard to wrap and unwrap everything carefully, we didn’t have a single broken glass! They were able to move our huge and heavy dinning table out through the balcony, without any scratches.

Was helped today with my 1 BD move across town by Carlos, Roberto, and Leonardo. Absolutely amazing team, super quick and efficient but also extremely thorough with protecting the necessary items and explaining anything that needed to be covered. Extremely friendly as well, and would definitely hire them again for my next move!
Northstar customer service was so helpful, and the movers were so nice and extremely efficient. Robert, Benjamin, and George arrived on time took apart furniture and moved objects carefully and efficiently. It was an all around seamless experience!
I’ve used NorthStar Moving for 3 moves now. All of them were between SoCal and Norcal, and I’ve been very happy each time.
My most recent move, in particular, was excellent thanks largely in part to Kevin R who was the primary person who helped with packing and moving out of my old house as well as unpacking and dropping off. Kevin is super friendly, helpful, and professional. His communication throughout the process and move was excellent, and I always felt taken care of. The rest of the NorthStar Moving team was great as well.
I needed to move with very short notice (less than a week), and NorthStar gladly accommodated. I was able to schedule a virtual walkthrough (via FaceTime) of my house to obtain an estimate and have movers at my house the very next day. The estimate was accurate; there were no surprise charges later on. I spent around $7400 on my move, which included some assistance with packing certain items (2 TVs, 2 mattresses, 2 desks, rowing machine, lamps, & miscellaneous smaller items), but I boxed up most of the stuff myself. I had a 4 bed house (which was not completely full of stuff, so the price will certainly vary based on your walkthrough). To be honest, I didn’t spend a lot of time shopping around, but I had used NorthStar in the past and had good experiences. Of my 3 moves, I only had some minor damage to a cheap Ikea dresser made of particle board, so no big deal there.
NorthStar does include some very minimal basic insurance for damages of 60 cents per pound on your stuff (at no additional cost), but there is an option to pay for additional coverage. I opted for additional coverage on some of my more valuable items (sofa, desks, TV, rowing machine). This insurance costs 3.5%-4.25% of the declared value plus a deductible of $100-$1000 (depending on which percent you opt to pay) with an optional $50 per item for interior damage of electronics. I believe there’s a more comprehensive (and pricier) insurance option as well. In the end, the insurance was just for peace of mind because my items arrived undamaged.
I’d definitely recommend NorthStar and would certainly use them again if I happen to be doing another longer distance move. A real, live person actually picks up the phone when you call them, and I didn’t have to wait a long time either. All the folks I spoke to (Gil, the estimator person… Kristi, the lady who helped with insurance… and the initial person on the phone whose name I didn’t catch) were very friendly and professional. And, they were all very patient with my dumb questions.
I can’t really compare NorthStar to other movers since I’ve been loyal to them, but they haven’t let me down in 3 moves, so I’ll be sticking with them.
The team was awesome! Nothing but good things to say about this moving company, they helped me move my 1bedroom apt in 2 hours and were super careful with all of my things! I would highly recommend and will definitely be using them next time I move, thank you guys!
Super legit. 10/10 would use again. I have a lot of things going on right now (we all do), but NorthStar truly made the logistics of setting up the move and the actual execution so clear and easy.
Logistics: I appreciated how transparent they were about pricing. They sent clear follow up emails about their rate, as well as insurance options. Sometimes phone calls can be annoying, but I super appreciated them following up on booking a time, and reviewing details the day before to ensure we were on the same page.
The day of: the guys were really friendly and speedy. Francisco was in charge and he had Israel and another great gentleman assisting — all three were super friendly and accommodating– and FAST. And nothing broke!
Pricing: I moved from a studio in Inglewood to the west side and it was thankfully well under the 3 hour minimum, especially with 3 guys. Make sure to check if they’re offering a Yelp deal.
Parking: for those who have street parking, I just so happened to book my appointment close to street sweeping timing. It ended up being perfect because the moving truck was parking just as street cleaning ended — definitely recommend coordinating it that way!

Had to move across the state recently. Lorena was helpful throughout the estimate process. The team of Ruben, Alejandro and Adolfo were excellent workers who got my stuff all packaged safely and that’s how everything arrived.

Great communication and easy (or as easy as moving can be) experience moving cross-country from San Francisco to Boston. A friend recommended NorthStar to us after a great experience moving from SF to Philly, and we would now recommend NorthStar to our friends. NorthStar was able to work with our moving timeline, quoted us a pretty reasonable price, and was very on top of the whole process, calling us at each step to make sure everything was okay. We packed our own boxes but NorthStar did all the furniture and everything arrived in great shape.
