I have the pleasure to address this letter of appreciation and recommendation for a very special person, Mr. Gadi M. Avigzer, of NorthStar Moving Corporation, in Los Angeles, where I was the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey until very recently.
It is not often I perform such a task, as I believe that a letter of appreciation and/or recommendation is a very serious matter. I would write one, only when I am convinced that ht person in reference has the right stuff and absolutely earns and deserves it. Without hesitation, I would consider this to be such a case.
After trusting to Mr. Avigzer, the special packaging, sensitive handling and overseas, as well as inland transportation of the museumlike quality, highly valuable objects and goods from The Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles to all the way in Istanbul, Turkey (also some to Boston) and receiving them all intact; and, previously to that, after observing for days, the exemplary way he demonstrated his superior management and leadership abilities during the sorting and packing of over 150 boxes of paintings, very delicate glass, silver and porcelain antiques and other delicate, very fragile times, my reasons to have such a highly positive opinion for this gentleman, are the following:
This well traveled, very articulate young man’s leadership qualities, analytical skills and ability to grasp new ideas and novel projects are well developed and I am confident that he will demonstrate constructive, as well as result oriented behavior when confronted with problems and even highly complex matters, conducive to resolution. He possesses the traits of persistence, efficiency and motivation to the fullest extend and I have pleasantly observed that these qualities of his are always accompanied with extreme courtesy, good spirits, cheerful attitude, very positive approach and a good sense of humor.
As a result, I would highly recommend Mr. Gadi Avigzer, for any promotion of higher office and management position, requiring serious responsibility.

Now that we are somewhat settled into our new office location, I wanted to take the time to thank you and your moving crew in writing for making our move over a weekend go as smoothly as possible.
Your crews arrived both Saturday and Sunday at the scheduled time and began working tirelessly both days until the job was complete. In addition to moving our office contents from point A to point B, the crews had to work around the installation of workstations, computers and telephones at the new location. This they coordinated beautifully with those other workers and made it appear to me that it was no problem at all. The job foreman made himself available, including giving me his cell phone number, at all times. Before they left the job on Sunday, they made sure items were placed where needed and gave me the opportunity to inspect the completed job.
However, the most notable aspect of the excellent service given was the fact that you made yourself available by phone the entire weekend. If I had any questions or concerns, I was able to reach you with a single call. There were no delays or telephone tag. When, at the last minute on Sunday, it looked as though items needing to be moved were inadvertently locked in the storage room by our former building management, without hesitation and without putting any burden on me at all, you told me not to worry, you would send a crew on Monday, the next day, to move those. items when the area could be unlocked. I particularly thank you for this very helpful attitude, since the burden of the move was on my shoulders.

The purpose of this letter is to commend your employees. In May, 2008, I contracted with Northstar to move my belongings from my home in Pacific Palisades, California to Portland, Oregon. I worked with Ron Cohen, the relocation specialist. He was friendly, helpful, and very professional. Everytime I had a question or concern, he always addressed it honestly and promptly. I was always satisfied with the outcome. He is an asset to the company.
On Friday, July 18, 2008, four men, Gil, Scott, Luis and Miguel arrived to load my boxes and furniture onto the truck. They, also, were friendly, helpful and professional. They worked hard and efficiently securing my furniture with blankets, undoing tables, and carefully wrapping the individual parts. I was given small pieces such as keys or tassles to wrap and take personally. I had not considered these and they certainly would have been lost or destroyed had I not been given them. I was thoroughly satisfied as everything arrived in good shape. They did an exemplary job.
Belle, in the office, and the different dispatchers with whom I needed to speak were also so helpful and kind.

There is no reason to shop around for a moving company – just hire this one NOW. This is my story….My dad passed away unexpectedly in May and I made a decision to move from California to Florida so that my mom would not be alone. Needless to say I was not really prepared to move or make such a drastic change in my life. The last thing I needed to worry about was getting “all my stuff” shipped to Florida. I went on the internet and put out a request for moving and received about 10 e-mails and 10 more phone calls from various movers. I had pretty much decided on one and then I got 2 more phone calls from 2 more movers beating the price from the one I selected. I thought it a bit strange, so I went onto the Better Business Bureau Website and all 3 of them were rated very poorly. However, NorthStar was on the website with an A rating and although they were not the least expensive I thought it was worth the extra $100 to go with an A rated company. My items were picked up as scheduled and within 24 hours was informed of the exact weight of my shipment and the price along with an estimated delivery date. Prior to delivery the driver phoned me to confirm address and time of delivery. I received all of my belongings on schedule and was so surprised, all 30 boxes did not have a scratch or dent and not one item was broken, the boxes were in the same condition they were in upon pickup. I have to say from start to finish everyone was friendly and polite, very helpful and patient. Each one a true professional from start to finish, Ted, Haim, Alex…etc…..Thank you so much for taking such good care of me and “my stuff”. I had about five moving companies to choose from when I scheduled my recent move. One was recommended by a co-worker but that company couldn’t fit me in on the day I wanted to move.
NorthStar was my second choice.
After the move, I can say that NorthStar will be my first choice next time. The team they sent for my move was professional, friendly, and worked their butts off. I was really unprepared (packing always takes longer than you think) so I really needed them to step up and help with the packing and moving.
From start to finish, my experience with NorthStar was great and I highly recommend them to anyone who’s moving. They are also very reasonably priced so even a nine hour move with 3 guys was under $800.
It’s not often you find a well-priced service that’s also excellent.
I first called the highest ranked company on yelp, Delancey, but they were booked. So, I called NorthStar.
Fate.
They showed up to my first apartment EARLY, but didn’t charge me for the time that they were just waiting around for me to get there. I had already packed all my stuff with Earth Friendly Moving boxes (highly recommended), so the 2-man team just loaded everything out. I tried to help, since I wanted to keep it at the 3-hour minimum, but they insisted that I just relax…they powered through!
My bed frame needed to be disassembled to fit through the doors, but they put it back together for me at my new place. They had a great attitude, were extremely professional and very fast. They kept it under 3 hours!
At the end of the move, they rang up my total at $100/hr which was more than they originally quoted me. One of the movers called the office and it was settled immediately.
I have a large collection of crystal glasses. I wrapped them all in the paper and packed them in the boxes supplied by Earth Friendly Moving and NON were broken. I was a little nervous when NorthStar even stacked the ‘fragile’ labeled boxes on top of each other, but was so happy when i unwrapped everything and all was good.
**a note about moving. if you dont want your stuff broken or damaged, pack it yourself. these guys move FAST. If you expect them to gingerly wrap every glass, and then pack it, then unwrap it, the move is going to take hours, then you’ll have to pay a lot. Do as much pre-packing as you can, and I gaurantee the move will be inexpensive, and less stressful too! You can always get friend to help you pack and upack your stuff, its the lifting and physical move that is the biggest burden…
Using NorthStar and Earth Friendly Moving boxes (which I packed prior to the move), I was able to move my one bedroom apartment across town in 3 hours.
The grand total was $432.
I wanted give my parents my refrigerator & I had some other items to move. The last moving company I used went out of business. It’s too bad, they were wonderful.
This moving company was very prompt . Moreover they were responsive on the phone & in person. They asked all the right questions. They asked what size place I was moving from & going to in order to determine how many men and what size truck to bring. Multiple stops were needed, from my studio to a 1 bdrm., to a storage place that my friend let me use, to my parents home. I asked “would you please send some really nice guys?” Through it all, they were pleasant, patient & good natured.
I would suggest you know as much as possible, how you want your belongings packed, because they are lickety split, ever so speedy fast. Closely supervise too, because they will ask questions, “is this ok or no?”
They called & forewarned me they were stuck in traffic but would soon be at the 1st stop. They arrived within the originally alloted timeframe at my studio.
They wrapped whatever was necessary, packed what I was too tired to pack (1 closet) & assured me it was going to be fine. They were very quick. Perhaps it didn’t look like a lot to them, but it sure did to me. They said, “don’t worry maam, we have lots of room in the truck.” When I peeked inside the truck, they had about half the truck empty!
I had a bed, padded head & foot board, loveseat, refrigerator, numerous boxes, bins, containers, plants, & wardrobe boxes. I thought I would need 2-3 wardrobe boxes. Ha Ha. They stuffed 9 wardrobe boxes, ca ching.
I had my closet divided into work clothes & play clothes. One of the moving men remarked, “nice work clothes”, I said “thank you.” Then he glanced at the play clothes before loading them into the wardrobe boxes & smiled, “soft & delicate!”
They worked really hard, their attitude was a “can do with a smile, just you sit back & relax.” Even when they discovered a dresser mesh bin assembly that had a wheel which was already broken from years ago, they took it in stride. They didn’t ask me, “why don’t you just get rid of this thing?” Instead, they coaxed the old dresser mesh bin assembly in a gentle manner till it made it onto the truck.
2nd stop was my new place. I requested moving blankets be spread out on my new carpet. They honored that request, again with a smile as they said “no problem, nice place.”
Here’s where I made a mistake. I wished I had asked them to wash their hands or offered them premoistened hand wipes to get rid of the grime on their hands before unwrapping & assembling the padded head board. The man who assembled the head board (upholstered) stained it slightly, however when I purchased it, I bought a lifetime guarantee on it, so it’s a minor issue. If I can’t get the stain out myself, the furniture company will replace the whole padded head board.
3rd stop was the storage space. Dropped off some containers. Here’s where the bill came in. They ran an estimate, because I was not going to the 4th stop. For all this an incredible $732.00
4th stop was a challenge. If you’ve ever been in L.A. gridlock, bumper to bumper, this was it. Just trying to get on the freeway must have been a nightmare. I passed them on the left & saw what they were in for, as the line to the onramp stretched on for miles. I don’t know how they managed it. However 2 hours later they made it to my parents & dropped off the refrigerator.
I figured it took them at least 8 hours. I had bugeted much more than $732 & I think I got a bargain. The moving men were really nice too. Absolutely nothing was broken, despite many bumps in the road & even the glass shelves for the refrigerator. Everything works just fine, even my precious powerful microwave oven.

Credit where credit is due. You people are just the best; from my first contact with you people over the phone I got a great impression of professionalism and courtesy right down the line.
I want to single out for praise Gil and Angel, who did a perfect job of moving from one place to two different places several antique pieces of some value for their quality but even more for sentimental reasons. Gil and Angel were unfailingly pleasant, courteous, and most important, knowledgeable–in short, they knew what they were doing every step of the way.
Gil is a great communicator; he knows how to listen. If I’d make a suggestion, he would either agree or explain succinctly and persuasively the reason he wanted to do it in a way he considered better or safer. (I assure you I really didn’t ask that many questions–or need to– but the point is I was really impressed with how he handled himself as well as he moved and packed my furniture!
He and Angel too reflect very well on your company. They were as careful with my stuff as if they have been hired to move Marie Antoinette’s bed out of the Palace of Versailles! I never would have believed the chore of moving furniture could be made to be such a pleasant experience.

It is very refreshing in this day and age to see a company that is so excellent at what they do, and is so concerned with their customer needs and feedback.
The people on the phone are always very nice at NorthStar. They always truly listen to my needs, and then come up with the best moving solutions.
They provided me with their moving services from one place to another in Los Angeles, and then they moved me from Los Angeles to West Lake Village.
The guys that actually show up on the moving truck on the day of the move are always great. They are enthusiastic and always are professional and nice to deal with.

Anyway…hands down…and I don’t say this lightly…NORTHSTAR IS THE BEST MOVING COMPANY I’VE EVER USED!
I’ve had some pretty darn Gawd awful experiences with movers and am understandably skeptical when it comes to picking a reputable one. So….I went on-line and after perusing Yelp, I did a Google search and saw some stuff, cough cough, on that OTHER site…City Search…grrr…touting NorthStar as the #1 moving company in the LA area. Well, that just wasn’t good enough for me..had it been Yelp touting it…well, then I would’ve picked up the phone right away! So anyway, I dug a little further…turns out that NorthStar has like an A +++ on the Better Business Bureau’s website! Holy HELL! I think Starving Students had a D or lower which was shocking…so the A +++ totally caught my attention along with the aforementioned Top Ten mention.
So I bit the bullet and called NorthStar…
Seriously, I got the MOST attentive and charming individual on the phone and you could just tell there was pride in his voice…he really loved his job…you could tell! I’ve never heard such enthusiasm…he gave me the low down regarding my move:
minimum of three hours
three guys
white glove service
no hidden charges
packing supplies would be extra…boxes, tape and the like…
wardrobe boxes would be supplied
they’d call me the night before with the exact time in the 2 hour window…
yada yada yada
And you know…they DID! Not only did I get an email confirmation when I got off the phone after booking my moving appointment…I got a call the night before to confirm AGAIN! And my window was 8-10am and they showed up at 10 minutes til 8! Crazy!!
So a one bedroom apartment consisting of a sectional sofa, a SOLID teak armoire, a fridge, a bed, dresser, boudoir, and tons of heavy boxes and misc. furniture moved from a first floor one bedroom apartment to a 2nd floor (with 17 stairs straight up no less!) apartment took just over 3 hours and cost me $375!!
The three guys, bless their hearts, wrapped up everything…EVERYTHING…with moving blankets and tape so it was protected AND they got that heavy ass armoire up the stairs without a scratch!
The move took place on the 5th and today, the 9th, I received a HAND-WRITTEN thank you note from them hoping that all was well, that we were happy with our move and that they looked forward to working with us again in the future.
Now how’s THAT for service?!

I want to express my deepest and most sincerest “THANK YOU” for a job (very) well done. Raz, Giovanni, Arturo and Rojela did a fantastic job this past weekend! To say that it was a difficult move is putting it mildly. Your men had to deal with four steep flights of stairs and moving big heavy furniture to two different locations while my home was undergoing construction – no extra charges for any of it! They worked and moved around the construction crew non-stop – relentlessly! Not once did your crew complain about the difficult task at hand. Your team of professionals did everything and anything to make this move as seamless and stress-free as possible for me. They packed up most of my belongings (I had only packed a few boxes), wrapped my expensive furniture with moving blankets and padding and was extremely careful with everything, including delicate china dishes. Not a single piece of china was broken! Unbelievable.
You can’t imagine how pleased I am. I was very skeptical about using a moving company. However, NorthStar was top-rated by CitySearch because you are simply THE BEST. From the moment I called and spoke with Bell (who was very pleasant, courteous and so very helpful), to the confirmation call from Jose (just as wonderful!) to the very end of the move with Raz, Giovanni and crew, the service you provided was second to none.
