I have lived in 5 states in 10 years so I move a lot.  I relocated from the heart of LA to Sherman Oaks, CA today and I read ALL of the reviews beforehand.  I have to say that this was the GREATEST experience I’ve ever had with a mover and I’ll tell you why:
First, Ben, the guy who gave me an  estimate arrived to my home ON TIME and was patient and friendly.  He gave me an accurate account of the cost.  The company emailed me and called me to confirm TWICE.  I was given an arrival time of 8am-10am on a SATURDAY at the END of the month which is prime time in the summer.  The crew, with Joel and his three guys arrived at 8:08 with a pleasant, reassuring manner and these guys got to work and didn’t stop until we were done.  Two potentially sad moments were (1) the refrigerator that wouldn’t fit into the kitchen (because of a design issue with the countertops) and (2) the couch that wouldn’t fit in the elevator.  He took my couch up three flights of stairs.  Joel and his crew MADE IT HAPPEN and I was sooooo happy because many other people would have quit.  I have to tell you, nothing got broken and they were very professional.  I plan to use them again SOON as I overpacked and will need to put some stuff in storage now.  Hey Northstar…do you discount for happy repeat customers?  This is my first yelp review and I’ve been a member for about 6 months I think.  I cannot say how happy I am.

A few weeks ago, I used NorthStar to move from a one bedroom apartment to a single-family house. I was very pleased with Omar’s crew (three movers total). The crew was courteous, knowledgeable and most of all, very efficient. The move went fast and went off without a hitch. 

They expertly wrapped up our furniture and our LCD TV with the utmost care and detail. As a result, there were no broken items and above all, no drama. 

I will definitely hire NorthStar for my next move.

My wife and I moved from our apartment to a condominium on the last Sunday in April.  After reading the mainly positive reviews about NorthStar and comparing them to other moving companies, we decided to contact them.  From beginning to end, their customer service was very good (and that’s coming from a Human Resources Professional).  I spoke with Donna and made all the arrangements regarding our move.  Donna was very pleasant and patient as I confirmed things with my wife.  She even offered to give us a small discount on the price when I mentioned where we heard about the company.  The e-mail confirmation was prompt and easy-to-follow with all the special arrangements (including the discount) highlighted for reference.
    On the day before the move, David called me to confirm what time the movers would arrive and all the particulars.
    On the day of the move, the movers were scheduled to arrive between 8 and 10am.  They pulled up at 8:30am.  Joel and his crew came in and went over the particulars with me on the invoice and answered my immediate questions.  Even though my wife and I had packed many of our smaller belongings already, I was impressed at Joel’s efficiency.  They were finished loading the truck in less than 2 hours.  When we arrived at the condo, they went right to work unloading boxes and furniture, always with a pleasant attitude and accommodating our requests to put things in certain places.  After everything was unloaded, they finished in just under 5 hours and Joel went over all the calculations of the time and products used.  
My wife and I were incredibly pleased from beginning to end with the service we were provided.  No possessions were damaged, the demeanor of Donna, David, and Joel and his crew was great, and we got exactly what we were told we would get.  I was more than happy to write this review and would recommend NorthStar in the future.  I would just remind people that moving can be a complex task and it’s very important to go over every particular with the company beforehand in order to minimize the surprises, maximize the peace of mind, and come away with as pleasant of an experience as possible.

I hired the services of NorthStar to move my 2 BR house.  Had several heavy items. The 4 man crew lead by Joel arrived on time and thoroughly wrapped and protected all sensitive items quickly and efficiently.

On the receiving end, the crew took note of recently installed hardwood floors, and w/ out me making a big deal about it, they took great pains not to scratch or damage the new surface. 

I had one heavy piece that was a particular challenge to place.  They cheerfully worked w/ me to place the item in a tricky spot, never forgetting to mind the floor.

The unexpected level of professionalism and cooperation made the whole deal a very positive experience and  I would not hesitate to use their services again.

NorthStar moved us out of our 3 bedroom house into a two bedroom, second story apartment while we remodeled. We liked them so much we just had them move us back in to our remodeled home. Omar’s team was so fast, friendly,  and helpful with our first move, we requested them again for the next move. They were very careful with our stuff and worked hard non-stop. For our first move, they even helped us pack.
They wrapped and taped all the furniture, and took great care with our breakables. Computers, monitors, and the 52-inch flat screen TV were all wrapped and taped – they even built a little cardboard crate for the TV. 
We were a little nervous about getting dings on our newly painted walls, but there is not a mark. They even moved a Cal King bed up a wrap-around staircase without getting a mark on the walls. 
With both moves they were done in 5 hours or less. I would definitely use NorthStar again, and ask for Omar!

I’ve used NorthStar 3 times in the past 5 years.  I don’t think anyone hates to move more than I do, but NorthStar makes the experience painless with minimal stress.  

Oscar, the foreman assigned to my move, last Friday, was very kind, polite, and the most helpful person.  He and his team were easy to direct and very efficient and knowledgable.  Nothing was damaged or lost – as usual!  I highly recommend NorthStar to everyone!

Came on time. Did my job quickly and professionally, highly recommend!!!!  (called before to confirm, mailed me contract etc)

Kevin and his assistant helped me move from Newport Beach to San Diego on April 21st.  They were thorough and did an excellent job of carefully packing my 1 bedroom condo.  Northstar may cost more than some of the other companies out there, but the real cost of moving is also what things break and have to be replaced.  In this case brand new furniture and a lage plasma TV came out unscathed.  After carefully looking at all of my things I could only find 2 very small and minor scratches.  I am very particular and was impressed by that.  These guys are professionals when it comes to moving.  If that is what you want, they will serve you well.  Moving is tough.  These guys make it a lot easier.  I would use them again with no hesitation.  Good attitude, hardworking, knowledgeable about moving things, and careful.

Joel and his team were WONDERFUL!! They were fast, careful, and very professional. They packed everything good and nothing broke. Everything that they took apart, they put back together. They placed the furniture exactly where I asked them to. This is the second time I’ve used Northstar and I will use them again if I ever move again.

Just moved this weekend thanks to Northstar.  I chose Northstar after reading all the good reviews on Yelp.  They were right-on.  Ran and his crew of three guys were awesome.  My move from LA to Ventura Co took 4.5 hours from start to finish.  That included two stops – one at my new place and one at my storage unit.  Ran’s guy Angel was amazing .  He fit everything into my storage unit despite my boyfriend’s insistance that I needed a larger unit.  They saved, time, money, and a lot of backache.

I will definitely use them again next time I have to move.  The cost was very reasonable.  The guys are very honest, careful, and trustworthy.

Northstar includes 3 guys in your rate.  Other movers only include 2 and charge almost the same rate (starving students).  It was a very good deal.

They estimated an arrival time between 8 and 10am on Sunday.  They were there by 7:45, which was fantastic.  

I was able to book Northstar at the last minute – just 3 days before the move.  No problems at all.

I called NorthStar on short notice for a move at the end of the month in Berkeley, CA.  While all the other companies I called were busy, NorthStar was able to accommodate me.  Even when I had to cancel at the last minute and then call back the next day to get the move appointment again, NorthStar was flexible and still had the slot to move my family.

The team was courteous, efficient, and careful with our fragile pieces.  I have used a lot of moving companies in the past few years, and NorthStar was by far the most patient and professional from the first call to the final box.  Furthermore, their prices were below the rates of their competition.   I give them my highest recommendation.

Hired NorthStar after reading positive reviews on-line. 
Arranged to have my four-bedroom house moved to a new larger home. Moving company rep gave competitive quote. They were very responsive to all e-mail and phone inquiries. 
Confirmed everything a few days before arriving. 
They showed up on-time and started working immediately in fifth gear! These guys are FAST! 
Since I was paying by the hour I was concerned about slacking and guys moving like slugs just to earn more money. That DID NOT happen with this crew. They were like a whirlwind in the house!
They were very respectful with my property – everything disassembled, wrapped in blankets and taped, and other items bubble wrapped (extra charge). 
They drove to the second house as fast as we did and once there immediately got to work. No complaints or issues with the fact that they had to carry heavy furniture and appliances up two flights of stairs and through narrow doorways. 
Except for a potted plant that was already cracked, nothing was broken, scratched, or damaged. Frankly, I was surprised, since I expected some ‘moving casualties’. 
I would highly recommend Joel and his crew from NorthStar. They are professional, fast, careful, and very reasonably priced. Overall, OUTSTANDING!

In short, these guys rock.  The move was easy to set up, we got a convenient time, and the CSR who handled the scheduling and transaction end of things got everthing right.

The best part, though, was the actual moving crew.  Joel and his team arrived right on time, packed everything perfectly, were incredibly pleasant to deal with, patiently waited for me to figure out where I wanted things in the new place–all on the rainiest, stormy day of the year.  Nothing broken, nothing lost–I would use them again and recommend them to friends and specifically ask for Joel and his guys to do the move.

My move from Santa Monica to Marina Del Rey is the shortest one I’ve done in the past twenty years.  Still a move is a move and the only difference is the

time it takes for your things to arrive.  In this case it was 10 minutes.  I picked Northstare moving after reviewing 5 other companies. 

The initial enquiry was done very professionally,  they showed that they were interested in my business.  Ben came over to do the onsite estimate and provided

a not to exceed quote.  This too was professionally done and I got my quote within the same day

The moving crew was headed by Ran Ovadia and assisted by Anvel Lopez and Agustin.  They moved in a very coordinated fashion. 

The packing of the sofas, arm chairs, bed and other heavy furniture was done very quickly and I could tell that they would not be damaged during the move. 

It was all go from the get go,  they did not stop!  During the move in all items came and got unpacked in record time,  the best I’ve seen with all my moves. 

Well done to Ran and this team.  They are highly recommended

The four men crew that moved us from San Juan Cpistrano to Seal Beach were outstanding. Kevin, our foreman was the best. Erick, Tamir and Gabriel rocked.  They didn’t waste any time, they were on their feed, stacking our boxes in the truck, wrapping my furniture neatly with their blankets, packing up my books. They did a great job of loading the truck very carefully as to not waste any space, even my big garden planters fit on that truck along with my three bedroom house content. I was already mentally prepared to leave them behind… It was without doubt a job well done
