We had a challenging move with an exact deadline, where they had to empty half of a truck in one location in California, then take the other half to a fairly remote address in Colorado. They committed to getting the items to Colorado in a very tight 3-day window and did everything in the power to make that happen. Most important, the crew that showed up on both ends were kind, patient, hard working and professional. And the sales team was also open and easy to talk to as we made this all work. We recommend NothStar highly — particularly given they are in a business that is often filled with questionable options.
Long Distance Move
I’ve used NorthStar Moving for 3 moves now. All of them were between SoCal and Norcal, and I’ve been very happy each time.
My most recent move, in particular, was excellent thanks largely in part to Kevin R who was the primary person who helped with packing and moving out of my old house as well as unpacking and dropping off. Kevin is super friendly, helpful, and professional. His communication throughout the process and move was excellent, and I always felt taken care of. The rest of the NorthStar Moving team was great as well.
I needed to move with very short notice (less than a week), and NorthStar gladly accommodated. I was able to schedule a virtual walkthrough (via FaceTime) of my house to obtain an estimate and have movers at my house the very next day. The estimate was accurate; there were no surprise charges later on…To be honest, I didn’t spend a lot of time shopping around, but I had used NorthStar in the past and had good experiences…
NorthStar does include some very minimal basic insurance for damages of 60 cents per pound on your stuff (at no additional cost), but there is an option to pay for additional coverage. I opted for additional coverage on some of my more valuable items (sofa, desks, TV, rowing machine)…I believe there’s a more comprehensive (and pricier) insurance option as well. In the end, the insurance was just for peace of mind because my items arrived undamaged.
I’d definitely recommend NorthStar and would certainly use them again if I happen to be doing another longer distance move. A real, live person actually picks up the phone when you call them, and I didn’t have to wait a long time either. All the folks I spoke to (Gil, the estimator person… Kristi, the lady who helped with insurance… and the initial person on the phone whose name I didn’t catch) were very friendly and professional. And, they were all very patient with my dumb questions.
I can’t really compare NorthStar to other movers since I’ve been loyal to them, but they haven’t let me down in 3 moves, so I’ll be sticking with them
Packers arrived on time, treated my items carefully, were efficient, were very professional and friendly. My items were delivered as promised on time and in excellent condition. Every contact I had with the office, packers and delivery people were positive and helpful.
Great communication and easy (or as easy as moving can be) experience moving cross-country from San Francisco to Boston. A friend recommended NorthStar to us after a great experience moving from SF to Philly, and we would now recommend NorthStar to our friends. NorthStar was able to work with our moving timeline, quoted us a pretty reasonable price, and was very on top of the whole process, calling us at each step to make sure everything was okay. We packed our own boxes but NorthStar did all the furniture and everything arrived in great shape.
We recently moved an elderly relative from San Francisco to San Diego and NorthStar Moving was fantastic. We needed full service so added packing and additional insurance. Our key contact John was fantastic, responsive, and thorough. The packing team came one time (early even!) and was efficient, detailed and thorough. For our 2nd move with NorthStar, big shout-out and thank you to John, the driver and team leader at both our pick-up and delivery locations. I was impressed by his professionalism, diligence, and attentiveness in treating our move as if it were his own. Him and his team made sure all our belongings and furniture were packed efficiently and securely. Delivery was super quick and took only two days. Everything arrived in excellent condition with no breakages or scratches.

We used this service for a cross country move. AZ to FL. Very easy to schedule. Very communicative via text, email and calling during the whole process- at the start until after delivery.
