Estimate – Ron Cohen was the man who came to the house to give us a quote for our move (this estimate included packing supplies, the actual packing of everything, the move, estimated amount of time it would take to get everything to our new address (with a ‘no later than XX date) and the unpacking).
Packing – everything boxed and taped up; the use of blankets on furniture; numbering all the items
Storage Before the Move & the Actual Move – Everything was taken to a storage place so that they could wait to get as manymoves done as possible at once (this is protocol with moving across the country)
Unpacking – they unpacked items and cleaned up the packing supplies (they can take all the empty boxes with them or leave them – your choice)
Customer Service – (Ashley Cole and Wendy Paola) they are available and so friendly and polite (best customer service I have ever come across!!!!!)
Review:
Ron Cohen came to our house and gave us an estimate of the cost to pack everything up, move in across the country and unpack at our new place. He was on time and was only there for maybe 30-45 minutes. He said that with we would not pay and more than what was on the quote that he gave us. I scheduled the move during this estimate.
We paid the price with the insurance. We went with the insurance price because we were moving across the country and knew that our stuff would be put into storage until the movers were able to fill a semi. Seemed that there was a higher chance of things being broken or missing with that type of move.
The movers said that they would be at the house at 8 am on the day of the move. They were on time and ready to go! There were 4-5 people and they were all very polite and very professional. They used a lot of “excuse me; please; ma’am, sir” – extremely polite. Towards the end of the day, there were others movers in the area, so they came and helped out. It took almost all day to pack everything up and load it into the truck.
We were told that it would take up to 12 days for our stuff to arrive at our new address. We were hoping it would take less, but it ended up taking the full time. It’s understandable – they try to fill a semi a truck with multiple houses to save on costs. They called us a day before they were due to our house. On the day they were supposed to be there, they called to explain that they were delayed (I believe it was due to weather; an understandable reason) and we scheduled a time for the following day.
To make things easier, my husband was at the house to try to tell the movers what room the belongings went to. He couldn’t be in all the rooms at once, so the movers did put things away. This is the only part of the entire experience that I was sort of unhappy with. A full basket of clean clothes with put in a dirty closet with dirty tools in the garage; one shoe was found in the same cabinet while the other was found on a shelf on the other side of the garage (both shoes were in the same box) – there were strange things like that. I chalk this ‘organization’ to men being men! Not a real big deal.
As we got settled in, we did notice a few items that were damaged, broken and missing (carpet cleaner was broken, toy box was damaged, sheet of plexiglass was missing). The process for filing a claim for the items was very easy and not the massive headache I was expecting. I originally was speaking with Ashley Cole – an extremely kind person who actually cares about the customers. She listened to me and helped me fill out any necessary paperwork and got me in touch with Wendy Paola – who finished processing the paperwork and working on a resolution. With in a few days the claim had been processed and a check was going to be made to us in the amount of the missing items that we had claimed.
We received the check in the time that was promised. I was very happy with my overall experience with NorthStar Moving Corp. If in the future we need to move again, we will definitely be using them again. I am also recommending them to anyone I know who is moving. AMAZING service from beginning to end.

As expected, the crew took 2 days to complete the move including full packing of our stuff. The team did a great job, being friendly, supportive and professional. Great Job !

Made a move from Orange County to West LA and had 2 men (Omar Mendonza and Angel Hernandez) from Northstar helping to move mainly the large furniture (sofas, bed, and large bookshelf).
They carried the stuff down one flight of stairs from my old place and then up another flight of stairs at the new one. They did a great job, were fast and friendly, and got the whole thing done in just under four hours. They did not waste a minute at all…in fact, they beat us to the destination between the two locations (we stopped for an Sbux). Would totally recommend.

One word – AMAZING!! I typically wrangle my dad and/or my brother to help me move (and I move quite a bit), but let me tell you it is totally worth the money to hire NorthStar Moving than to deal with the crap that your family gives you.

They were super fast, but also quite careful with my belongings. The movers and everyone else I spoke to at NorthStar were very nice and helpful.

I used NorthStar Moving company in April and they were fabulous. David, Ricardo, & Vidal from the Fremont branch were the movers and I would hire them again in a second. They showed up on time, helped finish packing all of my stuff and did everything very quickly. This was the best moving experience I have had! I highly recommend them!
Ron came over and gave me a free estimate, he then worked with me on the price and gave me a fantastic deal. When the movers arrived they were on time and very professional. They wrapped up all my belongings with care. When we arrived at the new location they carefully unwrapped and placed everything. I had a very good experience with them and will call them again should I move.
SO glad I found and bought the Yelp deal for NorthStar. The company was very accommodating of my rather non-simple move. Jessica, who helped book my move, was very informative, professional and communicative.

I had such a great experience using NorthStar – this was my first time actually hiring a professional moving company (historically I’ve bribed guy friends with beer and food to haul my stuff)! My new apartment was only 7 blocks away but this was one of the best investments I could have made. I had such peace of mind and it was done so quickly and efficiently. I picked NorthStar because of (a) the great reviews on Yelp and (b) the Yelp Deal that they offered (really awesome).
