I am thoroughly impressed by NorthStar. Right from the beginning, when I was searching for estimates, they responded to my emails within minutes. My replies and questions over the course of a few days, again were responded to within minutes of sending. I got phone calls and follow-up phone calls. The attention they give you is above and beyond. The estimate was reasonable and less than most other companies I contacted so I went with NorthStar.
Let me just say Agustin and his team were pretty great. The were due to show up between 8 and 10 am. I got a phone call, that they were downstairs at 8:15. Agustin came in, assessed the situation, had me sign my papers and started bringing things downstairs immediately. The guys were respectful, courteous and hard-working to say the least.
If you’re worried about oversize or heavy items, I’ll say this, I have a monster of a couch. It is impossible to move, let alone get through doors, up stairs and around corners. Those poor guys took a beating moving my couch. But they never once stopped moving, were professional and friendly. Everything got to my new place safe and sound and in a timely manner.
They did a great job and I can’t say thanks enough.
Residential
I actually got quotes and researched over 10 moving companies to move me from LA to Washington DC. Although NorthStar was not the least expensive, upon checking out other reviews sometimes you “get what you paid for”….and simply picking the least expensive company is not something I wanted to chance for all of my home furnishings. The Rep who I met with was extremely professionals as were the team of four packers who showed up when they said they would and worked for four hours straight and were extremely thorough in the packing and professionalism. They gave me a 10 window for the delivery of my move but actually went coast to coast in just three days – a pleasant surprise! After unpacking everything, there was no damage and everything arrived safe and sound!
I will always use NorthStar Moving for any and all of my moves and will refer them to all of my friends and family for their moving needs!!! I cannot say enough good things for the professionalism, honesty, and follow-through with my move.NorthStar is second to none in my mind! Doug

I used NorthStar to move from Woodland Hills to Huntington Beach 2010. The movers showed up on time, were extremely helpful and were not bothered at all by the rain. In fact, they put plastic down on all the floors of my new place to make sure we didn’t get any stains or dirt inside. That is customer service! They were super quick and the move was affordable.
I am moving again this month and will be using NorthStar. The customer service team has been great in setting up our move, on time for their price consultation and super responsive for any questions I’ve had regarding their services.
I’ll never use another moving service! Thank you NorthStar!

This was only my second time using a moving company, but Northstar definitely did a way better job than the other guys. They arrived promptly, gave me a quick rundown of how the day would go, and got right to work. At times, they were moving too fast for me and I couldn’t keep up on telling them where to put stuff. Despite the complicated move (had stuff in two areas) and the long commute to the new location, they were done in record time (faster than I expected). I thought they might try to milk the time when I left them at the storage facility, but they arrived to the new location shortly after I did. Only mishap, they scratched one of my walls, but at least they knocked some of the cost off to cover for the scratch. All in all, I was very pleased and would definitely use Northstar again if I had to.
My most recent move was the 3rd time I had used NorthStar. Everything they do, from scheduling a date, to the actual move, to the follow-up were first class and completely as-expected based on my previous experiences. I won’t hesitate to use them again.
The best! I will use them over and over again!
I used NorthStar yesterday for a move within the City (SF). My movers were quick and efficient – and kind to boot. I would highly recommend them!
I’ve used Northstar for 2 moves and was even more impressed by my second experience. The actual cost of my move was significantly lower than my “not to exceed” estimate. The estimator and the moving crew were all very professional and respectful of my time, questions, and my property. I will definitely hire them again and I won’t even bother getting an estimate from another company.
Good company with nice staff. Completely happy with their services – they informed clearly about all the prices, came on time, acted fast and accurately, listened to me and cared about the moved things. They were great.
For the statistics: local 3 miles movement, 3 men and 1 truck, 2br apartment with not much stuff took about 4 hours.
A tip – buy their deal at yelp, it saves money!
And one more tip – if paying with cash, they give you a small discount – I think it was 5% (do not remember exact number).

Services Performed:
Estimate – Ron Cohen was the man who came to the house to give us a quote for our move (this estimate included packing supplies, the actual packing of everything, the move, estimated amount of time it would take to get everything to our new address (with a ‘no later than XX date) and the unpacking).
Packing – everything boxed and taped up; the use of blankets on furniture; numbering all the items
Storage Before the Move & the Actual Move – Everything was taken to a storage place so that they could wait to get as manymoves done as possible at once (this is protocol with moving across the country)
Unpacking – they unpacked items and cleaned up the packing supplies (they can take all the empty boxes with them or leave them – your choice)
Customer Service – (Ashley Cole and Wendy Paola) they are available and so friendly and polite (best customer service I have ever come across!!!!!)
Review:
Ron Cohen came to our house and gave us an estimate of the cost to pack everything up, move in across the country and unpack at our new place. He was on time and was only there for maybe 30-45 minutes. He said that with we would not pay and more than what was on the quote that he gave us. I scheduled the move during this estimate.
We paid the price with the insurance. We went with the insurance price because we were moving across the country and knew that our stuff would be put into storage until the movers were able to fill a semi. Seemed that there was a higher chance of things being broken or missing with that type of move.
The movers said that they would be at the house at 8 am on the day of the move. They were on time and ready to go! There were 4-5 people and they were all very polite and very professional. They used a lot of “excuse me; please; ma’am, sir” – extremely polite. Towards the end of the day, there were others movers in the area, so they came and helped out. It took almost all day to pack everything up and load it into the truck.
We were told that it would take up to 12 days for our stuff to arrive at our new address. We were hoping it would take less, but it ended up taking the full time. It’s understandable – they try to fill a semi a truck with multiple houses to save on costs. They called us a day before they were due to our house. On the day they were supposed to be there, they called to explain that they were delayed (I believe it was due to weather; an understandable reason) and we scheduled a time for the following day.
To make things easier, my husband was at the house to try to tell the movers what room the belongings went to. He couldn’t be in all the rooms at once, so the movers did put things away. This is the only part of the entire experience that I was sort of unhappy with. A full basket of clean clothes with put in a dirty closet with dirty tools in the garage; one shoe was found in the same cabinet while the other was found on a shelf on the other side of the garage (both shoes were in the same box) – there were strange things like that. I chalk this ‘organization’ to men being men! Not a real big deal.
As we got settled in, we did notice a few items that were damaged, broken and missing (carpet cleaner was broken, toy box was damaged, sheet of plexiglass was missing). The process for filing a claim for the items was very easy and not the massive headache I was expecting. I originally was speaking with Ashley Cole – an extremely kind person who actually cares about the customers. She listened to me and helped me fill out any necessary paperwork and got me in touch with Wendy Paola – who finished processing the paperwork and working on a resolution. With in a few days the claim had been processed and a check was going to be made to us in the amount of the missing items that we had claimed.
We received the check in the time that was promised. I was very happy with my overall experience with NorthStar Moving Corp. If in the future we need to move again, we will definitely be using them again. I am also recommending them to anyone I know who is moving. AMAZING service from beginning to end.
