I’ve used Northstar twice for my home moves and once for a work related move and each time they have been excellent. The staff is professional, friendly and courteous, the rates are fair and they take incredible care of your property. I wouldn’t use any other movers!

Thank goodness for Yelp and honest people. I hadn’t moved in 12 years and I was out of the loop. All I knew is that it cost about $400 to move my furniture back then. I was stressing the thought of moving for some time.
I called NorthStar and used the online coupon. I got movers Michael B., Joe, and Antini O. to help me. No situation was too difficult. I lived on the second floor in a gated community and the house I moved into had minimal parking space. I am also thrifty. I wasn’t embarrassed to tell the movers to help me keep track of my “schedule” (wanted to stay under 4 hours). I did–easily. Looking back, I probably should have went for 5 (moved a lot of little things on my own).

These guys were the best! From the minute I made the phone call, the person who answered was very helpful, down to the minute the guys were finished moving me! Very polite. Very helpful. Had everything I needed. Worth every penny. Didn’t damage anything I own or either property, moving out of or into.
I tend to be a do-it-yourself kind of gal but between the rave reviews on Yelp and my friend’s successful move I finally gave up moving myself… enter NorthStar Moving Company.
I can honestly say I will never move myself again.

1. Talk to Ram, he’s the owner and will take care of you. He gave me 5 star service from start to finish.
2. My move crew: they were funny, friendly, and fast. Big shout out to Mike, Dan & Charlie. *If you can request them, I would recommend it.
3. Flexible scheduling: they give you a window of when they will arrive and call you an hour before actual arrival time to confirm so you don’t have to wait around all day.
4. Price: I had a yelp coupon and they are reasonably prices $115/hour plus any supplies you use. However, they let you use closet hanging boxes free as well as frame boxes. Refer to #2 for speed, meaning you end up paying less.
Overall, totally recommend this company and definitely my move crew!
We recently moved and NorthStar did a great job. They arrived on time, were professional and got everything moved promptly and professionally. I’d use them again for a move.
I have had some negative experiences with other movers in the past, so I was nervous about dealing with movers again for a big cross country move. Dealing with NorthStar, however, was easy and pleasant from the very first phone call.
Their estimator, Ron, was punctual, professional, and we were able to work out an estimate that I felt very comfortable with. He also broke down every fee very clearly, so I knew what I’d be paying for. Every time I contacted him with updates on the move, he replied promptly and courteously.
The movers themselves were also very punctual, polite and quick. At destination, they were equally punctual (early, actually), polite, and quick when it came to unloading my stuff. They told me beforehand what my balance would be and at the end there were no surprises in the form of hidden fees or anything like that.
Moving is stressful no matter what, but with NorthStar you can at least relax a little knowing your belongings are in good hands. I highly recommend them!
A+ Experience from beginning to end!!! I am so glad we chose NorthStar Moving Company. Our first point of contact was with Steffi in customer service. She was pleasant and answered every question thrown at her. We were very pleased to hear that NorthStar would send a representative the next day to give us a “Not to exceed price.” Ron was friendly and on time, he quickly inventoried our furniture and approx. 60 + boxes we packed ourselves. We were thrilled that our not to exceed price was very reasonable, and we could use our $100 Yelp certificate, too! Free wardrobe boxes, no extra fees for tape and wrapping furniture, and best of all no extra charges because we lived in a building without an elevatr! We moved from a 2 bdrm apartment (1100 sqft) to a 3 bdrm home 9 miles away.
Moving Day – The 4 man team sent out….Nick, Oscar, Alex and Alvaro were SUPERSTARS!!! The gentlemen arrived in red polo shirts just before 8am, and dove right in. Nick was a great leader, he was pro-active and let the building mgr. know about a car blocking the loading/unloading zone. Parking in aother area would have added much more time to the other move, as well as fatigue to his group.
The guys carried boxes and furniture using the stairwell, the team was relentless and never dragged their feet. They disassembled many furniture pieces and wrapped the furniture easily…it was obvious they were pros. We were amazed at how fast the guys worked, and yet still showed tremendous care for our belongings. They were even playful with out 2 kids. Each member of the team was communicative and thoughtful. They pointed out the wall portraits that we almost left behind, gave us great suggestions for our new furniture layout, and still took the time to unpack the wardrobe boxes! We were unbelievably impressed with the level of service we received. We shared pizza, soft drinks after all their hard work. They were completely professional, thorough and maintained a great attitude throughout the entire move. We would use Northstar Movinga gain, and would recommend them to anyone.
I am so glad that we selected North Star as our movers for our cross-country relocation. For the Yelper below who thinks that a move isn’t stressful- try an Orange County to Chicago move in the middle of dead-ass winter immediately following the holidays and having little time to prep because you work 50 hours a week. Our relocation is not one of the most stressful events we have endured, but North Star pulled through in making a crazy move a lot less stressful. We did extensive research prior to selecting our movers, as there are a lot of liabilities and assets involved, and tedious logistics to work out. We have no regrets, as everything was amazing from start to finish. Our rep, Alice, provided prompt and thorough follow-through at each stage of the move. The local team of 6 movers arrived to pick up their belongings, and I was very pleased with the service they provided. They were friendly, courteous, and FAST. We had pre-packed many of our belongings ourselves with the exception of my boyfriend’s fragile (i.e. expensive) flat-screen TV and they took great care in packing it well and packing it quickly. The driver who transported our belongings from CA to IL was Sean White, who is truly a godsend. He called to provide me with his cell phone number upon leaving CA and remained in contact throughout his trip to keep me updated on his progress. He endured many a shitty blizzard to get here, and when he arrived, he and his partner unpacked and hauled a lot of heavy things up three winding flights of stairs very quickly. Our belongings arrived without any damage within the time window that was promised. I am happy to refer any friend of mine to North Star, whether it be for a local CA move (they are based in Chatsworth) or a crazy cross-country move.
Great experience. Given how busy things are at this time of year I was lucky to get NorthStar booked with short notice. Moving in our neighborhood is a challenge because of parking and space but the gang managed to make it happen despite not having the required time to pull permits. We had lots of detailed instructions but the move went fast and everything arrived in its place free of damage. Overall a very uneventful move and we got a great price OTD. Definitely recommended.
Had a great experience with North Star. They were very professional all the way through. Daniel and his crew were wonderful–they tried to make sure we got our money’s worth and were just really nice guys. I’d recommend them to anyone.
